Wordless Wednesday : 4 Words

Wordless Wednesday, top beauty blog, Australia best beauty blog

My 4 words are : happy, genuine, elegant, peaceful.

It is semi-true.

Am I happy?  Yes, kinda with some aspects of my life, and kinda not with other aspects of my life.  I am a pessimistic person so I focus on negativity rather than positivity; so that when sh*t hits the fan, I’m semi-prepared.

Am I genuine?  Yes, I like to think so.  I don’t like fake people…and let me tell you, I know a lot of fakies!!!  I don’t do ass-sucking and when I see people do that, it annoys the heck outta me!

Am I elegant?  Bahahahahahahahahaha!!!  I wish!  Elegance does not make a stupid video about Melbourne weather!

Am I peaceful?  Depends what kind of peaceful.  I’m peaceful in terms of keeping peace with people.  I don’t tend to hold grudges and I try to forgive readily…and if I encounter fake people, I avoid them.  As for peaceful in the audio sense, I am NOT!  I like to rant and rave to anyone who will listen to me.  I am more articulate when I rant with words…when it comes to talking, I get my words muddled up and then my accent goes funny and then I look like a right twat!

What are your 4 words?  And do they really describe you?  Share, share.

P.S.  Sorry, I know it’s deceiving when this is part of the “Wordless Wednesday” series because clearly, I am very wordie in this post.  Ahhh, someone has to shut me up!!!

Hair Tutorial : Messy Knotted Ponytail

hairstyles, ponytails,

Having a bad hair day?  Or are you bored of the same standard ponytail?  Then funk it up and make it look edgy.  So easy but looks so cool!

[Please ignore the bra strap which slid off my shoulder.  It’s just Mouldy Bra wanting to say hi again!]

How To : Messy Knotted Ponytail

1.  Tie your hair up into a ponytail.

2.  Grab some hair and loop it round where the hair tie is.  Make it a messy loop and cross it over when your reach the top part again to fake a “knot”.  Secure it with a bobby pin.

3.  Hairspray the ends and gently backcomb it to create some texture.

How easy is that?

Red & White Polka Dot Nails

I couldn’t wait to use my new nail dotting tools so I racked my brains to think of a suitable design and came up with the totally un-original red and white polka dot nails which kinda resemble toadstools!  LOL.

The red base is OPI Big Apple Red – a lovely find in one of the Lust Have It boxes from ABBW.  OPI Big Apple Red is bright red creme which every girl should have in their nail polish collection.  I love to paint my toes with this colour.  The white dots are from Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in London Clouds.

What do you think?  I love this!

Say Hello To My New Dotting Tools

nail dotting tools, nail art blog

Don’t have much to say today but check out my new dotting tools!  Aren’t they pretty?  Okay, I know all dotting tools look more or less the same…  I bought these from ebay for less than $2!  I’m hoping to do lots more nail art for the blog.

One end of the dotting tool varies in sizes, but the other end is just the same size of balls.  I can’t wait to show you the my dotty nail art!  Here’s another pic…

Anyway, do you have nail dotting tools?  What other nail art tools do I need to take my nail art to the next level?

Celebrity Smile Makeovers Part 2

Celebrity Smile Makeovers Part 1 featured Catherine Zeta Jones and Hilary Duff.  Today, we’ve got another two pretty ladies who had their teeth done.  They are Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts from the UK band, Girls Aloud.

Smile makeovers can involve a number of dental procedures including teeth whitening, veneers and crowns.  Not many celebrities go down the orthodontic route because they wants results ASAP.

Cheryl Cole Before & After Teeth

Cheryl Cole, Before & After Plastic Surgery, Teeth, Smile Makeover

Before :  Cheryl had peg laterals which means that the teeth next to her central teeth look smaller and pointier…like pegs.  That’s why when she smiles, you can see spaces.  This is often inherited.

After :  Brighter, whiter teeth with veneers (most likely) to alter the shape of the peg laterals.  However, smile makeovers often involve more than 1-2 teeth and it looks like she may have had her top front 6 teeth done.

Nicola Roberts Before & After Teeth

celebrity teeth, before & after

Before :  Nicola’s teeth appear crowded and they are not straight and slope backwards (dental jargon :  Class II division 2 incisor relationship)  This also reminds me of Posh Spice’s teeth.  That’s Victoria Beckham, btw.

After :  Straight white teeth – most likely veneers.

If you have veneers, you have to be careful not to bite into an apple because they can flick off easily.  Like false fingernails.

Anyway, I do like their smile makeovers and the cosmetic dentists did a great job.

So, what do you think of their makeovers?  Would you consider veneers?

Get Or Forget : Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes

No offence** but, seriously :-

a) Who writes reviews on cleansing wipes?
b) Who really wants to read a review on cleansing wipes?

These are the thoughts running through my mind as I write this review on Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes.  How ironic!  But the reason why I am writing this review is to test out a new review format : Get Or Forget…  Let me know if you Get this format or should I Forget it.  (*chuckles at my own very un-funny puns*)

Dove, facial cloth, wipes, cleansing

I found these Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes inside my goodie bag when I attended the Australian Open.  I used to be a wipes-kinda-gal and would use all different varieties including baby wipes to wipe my make-up off or to cleanse my face.  It was so quick and easy for a lazy gal like me.  But now that I am older and wiser, I don’t use wipes for these purposes at all because they don’t perform as well as the individual products they are supposed to replace, i.e. make-up remover, cleanser, toner and moisturiser.

Get Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes if :-

  • You have a tendency to sweat and smell; but can’t get access to a shower
  • You are going through a deodorant-free phase to…you know…air your pits and you’re looking for a scented substitute
  • You don’t wear slippers around the house and you can’t be bothered to wash your feet before you jump into bed
  • You’re looking for an alcohol-free wipe to spot clean make-up brushes
  • You’re going camping or travelling and need to travel light
  • It’s on a special deal at your local pharmacist

Forget Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes if :-

  • You are looking for a non-scented wipe
  • You’re happy with the baby wipes you use which work out to be much cheaper per wipe

** I dislike it when people who say “No offence, but…” because it’s as if it gives them a valid excuse to say offensive things!  And all I wanna say is, “No offence, but STFU!”  Yes, I am well aware that I have used the exact same phrase to introduce  this post.  The theme of the day is ‘irony’!!!**

What are your thoughts on cleansing wipes?  And is the review format Get Or Forget a keeper?  And what do you think about people who say “No offence, but…” sentences?

Asians, Alcohol And After Sun

I know there are many factors of being “typically Asian”, but for the sake of this post, I have altered it to suit my requirements.  You know you’re a typical Asian if :-

a)  You cannot handle alcohol and go bright red and get drunk easily.
b)  You avoid the sun because you don’t want to get tanned.

This was all of me a couple of weeks ago…except in my alcoholic state, I welcomed the sun into my life and this kinda happened…

alcohol and asians don't mix

Being a sunny day, there was nothing more refreshing than a nicely chilled Rekordelig cider (they are so damn yummy!!!).  I wore my sunnies and sat in the shade, slowly sipping my cider.  One can later, I was beaming red and tipsy.  Off came my long-sleeved top and I was prancing around in the glaring sun with my bare skin sans sunscreen!!  Shock, horror, faint!  *THUD*

I preach the importance of sunscreen and there I was, drunk as a punk, basking in the blazing sun in all my sunscreen-free glory.  (I did a similar thing once when I was holidaying in Costa Brava and promptly spewed out my pint of beer before I got to the toilet.  Pleasant holiday memories…)  There was no spewing this time round; but there was tanning of the unwanted kind.

Perfect timing to bring out the Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating I was sent for review a while ago.  I never thought I would have the opportunity to use it but here I was, slapping it all over my sunburnt bits.

If you’re looking for a comprehensive review about Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating, you have come to the wrong beauty blog. There’s not much for me to say because :-

a)  I have never used an After Sun before so I can’t compare it with others.
b)  I used it in my post-alcoholic pre-hangover state.  Yes, I get hangovers from one sip of wine!

All I can say is that it’s like a moisturiser and it’s nourishing for the skin.  Smells alright and absorbs very well in the presence of sunburnt, dehydated skin.

My skin didn’t peel off and it didn’t hurt…so did I really get sunburnt??  Maybe it was just a tan…?  Anyway, because of that, I cannot comment on the soothing factor of this product.  And I refuse to burn till my skin peels off for the sake of beauty blog research.

Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating claims to “prolong tans” but that’s the last thing I want!!!  Definitely one for the sun junkies!

Lesson learnt : I must only drink alcohol after the sun goes down.  Forget treating my skin to After Sun moisturisers, alcohol can be my after sun treat!

Do you use After Sun?  I don’t think I have ever met anyone who uses After Sun…  Are there After Sun products for your face?  Sorry.  I am an After Sun noob!  But most importantly, what’s your favourite flavour of Rekorderlig?
