A Bit About Plastic Surgery

Full Disclosure : “A Bit About Plastic Surgery” is a guest editorial brought to you by About Plastic Surgery in accordance with The Best Beauty Blog’s Disclosure Policy.

One reason that a lot of people do not consider plastic surgery is that they are worried it’s artificial or unusual. Indeed, making a permanent change to your body via surgery may seem at first like a drastic or peculiar step to take. However, a little bit of research on websites such as aboutplasticsurgery.com can help to alleviate your concerns, as you will find that plastic surgery these days is subtle, precise, and even common. In fact, for further reassurance that you are not the only one considering a procedure, here are a few words on some current trends in plastic surgery.

One of the most popular types of surgery right now – or rather, one of the most common plastic surgery concepts right now – is the “mommy makeover.” While a mommy makeover does not necessarily constitute a single surgery, it is still a compilation of plastic surgery procedures, specifically designed to help women restore their bodies following pregnancies. Many women who feel that their bodies have permanently deteriorated as a result of pregnancy or childbirth turn to procedures such as breast augmentations or tummy tucks, and soon find that their bodies are just as tight and attractive as they were before the pregnancies.

Another very popular type of cosmetic surgery, somewhat surprisingly, is liposuction. The fact is, at least in the United States, there is a massive portion of the population that is significantly overweight; this is fairly common knowledge. What garners less attention is the fact that the modern lifestyle is also, generally, less conducive to high-exercise lifestyles. People who begin to become overweight often have to work long days sitting at desks, and are able to conduct the majority of their days’ activities at computer screens. This inactivity makes it even more difficult to lose weight, which is why a number of overweight people turn to liposuction procedures for help. Once the weight is off, it can be easier to restart with a healthier lifestyle.

These are just a couple of examples of some of the more common plastic surgeries today. As you can see, plastic surgery does not exist merely so that beautiful celebrities can get facelifts. Occasionally, there is more of an actual need for a procedure, and people can turn to plastic surgery for real help. So, if you have been grappling with the decision of whether or not to undergo a procedure and you worry that if you do it will be frowned upon, just remember that every patient has his or her own reasons for surgery. Make your decision based purely on yourself.

I thought double eyelid surgery would be one of the tops! Plastic surgery is actually getting more common and familiar with everyone nowadays. Still so many people are being so close-minded about the idea of plastic surgery, calling others “fake” and all… what a shame :(

It’s nice to know a tad more about plastic surgery and thank god you stated that it could be sometimes for the sake of a healthier lifestyle and not always about keeping up with the beauty standards!

    Love!

@Tram, I think double eyelid surgery would be very common amongst Asians. I need it! HAHA! But yeah, I think that it’s up to everyone to decide what they want for their own body.

I like this article, and I agree that plastic surgery can really help people. I’m one of those that probably need the ‘mommy makeover’. I was a 85 lb. 4’10″ when I got pregnant and it stretched out my midsection a whole lot. I think it would be such a great burden off of my shoulders if I could get that excess stretched out skin removed – it’s not like you can lose skin. Thanks for writing this!

@Ashlynn, Yeah, when there’s excess skin, there isn’t much you can do except get surgery, right?
