As the nights get colder in autumnal Melbourne, we have had to turn on and turn up the heating at night which means that my toes are kept nice and warm while I sleep but it also means that I have started getting dry flaky skin patches as my skin has become dehydrated. There is flaking especially around the nose region and on my forehead around my brows, which is highly unattractive. One of the essential steps to treat dehydrated skin (which is often overlooked) is to exfoliate. Exfoliation will remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to reveal fresher, healthier and smoother skin lying underneath and also, it will allow easier and more effective absorption of serums and moisturisers. I was delighted when Beauty Directory selected me as one of the beauty bloggers to trial the new powder-to-paste exfoliator on the market – Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant.
What Alpha-H Say
The Gentle Daily Exfoliant features a unique way to renew the skin using crushed fruit enzymes naturally sourced from Papaya and Pineapple. This non-abrasive, micro-exfoliating treatment effortlessly lifts away dulling debris, sweeps out blocked pores and leaves the skin noticeably brighter, smoother and feeling baby soft.
Kaolin, Sodium Diatomeae, Bentonite, Carica Papaya Extract, Ananas Sativus Extract, C1 77891 (titanium dioxide)
The packaging of Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant is simple, but perhaps not eye-catching enough. The bottle has a cool feature which is a measured dispenser built within it to allow a controlled amount to be poured from the bottle. The instructions on the back of the bottle recommend using 2 measured dispenses but I feel that is too much and I prefer to use 1 measure only.
The exfoliant paste formed by adding water to the fine powder feels slightly chalky and because it is non-gritty, this is extremely kind to sensitive skin. Initially, it takes a bit of fiddling about to discover the right powder to water ratio to find the suitable consistency of exfoliating paste which is preferable for your skin, but once you master it, it only takes a few seconds to mix it. I prefer mine to be quite thin and very smooth (as demonstrated in the photo).
After 1 week of using Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant, I noticed that more blackheads had popped to the surface of my skin, but were much easier to extract than usual. My skin felt soft, supple and velvety smooth. When applying moisturiser after exfoliation, my skin seemed to soak up the moisturiser like a sponge to water.
Then after 2 weeks of using Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant, there appeared to be less blackheads and my pores were less obvious. I also noticed that my skin tone looked more even and more radiant. However, I still have flaky patches of skin on my nose now and again so Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant has not totally eliminated that.
A daily exfoliant has to be mild and non-abrasive to skin, yet effective. Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant definitely fulfils these requirements and has now been incorporated into my daily evening skincare routine and deserves a rating of 9 out of 10 from The Best Beauty Blog.
