What The Muk?

muk spa hair products and style stick

Oh hello there!  Let’s ignore the fact that I have been AWOL from the blog, but I was in major stress mode :P  Anyway, allow me to introduce you to a range of muk hair products that my hair has been roadtesting for the last few weeks…

muk Style Stick 230-IR

This hair straightener leaves my hair feeling soft, silky, shiny and smooth.  Major love!  It’s important to take small sections of hair as that eliminates having to straighten the same section over and over again.  It does get quite steamy when using this, but don’t mistake this as your hair burning.  It’s just releasing some static ions…or something.  Mark, one of the owners of muk did explain why, but I forgot.  Blame my champagne-fueled short attention span at the muk event :P

muk Spa Argan Oil Repair Shampoo & Conditioner

If your hair is dehydrated like mine, give this hair-enriching combination a whirl!  It is VERY rich so you actually don’t need to use a lot.  The first time I used it, I gave my hair a generous two hardcore pumps each and although it felt great, my Husband commented on my second day hair – “ummm…your hair is greasy!”  WTF right?  Anyway, I have now learnt that one gentle pump each is sufficient and to concentrate applying conditioner more to the lower two thirds of my hair than near the roots.  My colleague actually came up behind me last week to stroke my hair as she said it looked soft and shiny.  It was a bit of a creepy stalker-ish moment but I made a mental note to add this to my muk review ;)

muk Spa Argan Oil Treatment

I have a love affair with hair oils but ever since I started using the muk Spa shampoo and conditioner range which already contains Argan Oil, I have not had to use a lot of hair oil afterwards as I find my hair already nourished enough.  I predict that this bottle of oil will last me a LONG time.  I love the fact it comes in a pipette dispenser so I can control exactly how many drops I want to use.

muk Spa Argan Oil Repair Mask

Ms Lazybones here hasn’t actually tried this hair mask yet!  Sorry.  But that’s because I feel no need as my hair already feels lovely from using the other products in this range – hah!  Once I do test it out, I will update y’all.

muk Spa Argan Oil Shine Spray

This is great to use after using the Style Stick to give the hair extra shine.  Just a light spritz is enough otherwise it can be overkill and I’ll start getting “greasy” comments again from my Husband!

And that concludes my muk reviews for today.  I had the pleasure of attending a muk event a few weeks ago and these products were part of the handsome goody bag.  Thanks again muk!

Tried & Tested Trio : Hair Oils

Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment, L'Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil & L'Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil

As you all know, I work full-time in a medical-related field where blood, guts and saliva get thrown in the air and being a hygienic freak, I HAVE to scrub my body after work PLUS wash my hair.  Every.  Single.  Day.  That, in hair speak, means that I strip my hair of its natural oils and as a result, I dowse my hair every day in hair oils in an attempt to nourish it.  Here are 3 hair oils I have tried and tested.  Check it out y’all…

Touching Up My Redhead Roots

l'oreal paris excellence fashion, l'oreal paris excellence fashion review, l'oreal paris excellence fashion red, l'oreal paris excellence hair dye

I’ve had no regrets since I became a total redhead in January when I was holidaying in Hong Kong.  If you’re in HK and you’re looking for a hairdresser in the New Territories, I HIGHLY recommend Kay from Hair Q in Tai Po Plaza who is MAGIC!  I’ve had my hair cut by him twice and it looks amazing when I step out of the salon and it still looks amazing 2.5 months later when it’s grown out with lots of lovely layers and natural volume.  Unfortunately, my hair style might still look good, but my roots were raging to be done a few weeks ago.  Not to worry as I had anticipated this by purchasing L’Oreal Paris Excellence Fashion P66 Intense Spicy Red before I hopped on the plane back to Melbourne.  Here’s how I got on…

I Had An Awesome Hair Day Thanks To TONI&GUY Hair Products

Asian hair, tousled hair, shiny hair, Chinese hair

The title says it all really.  But I was seriously having an awesome hair day where no heat styling whatsoever was used to manipulate my hair.  (FYI : Photos of my awesome hair are unedited!)

It was sexy.  It had volume.  It radiated shine.  It was soft, but it had texture.  And all I had to do was use a selection of TONI&GUY hair products to achieve this result!

TONI & GUY Australia, TONI&GUY hair products review

I started off with a few drops of TONI&GUY Shine Gloss Serum to iron out the frizzies and then I scrunched and finger twirled my hair with the TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray.  There was some spritzing with TONI&GUY Moisturising Shine Spray for extra glossiness.  And I finished it off with a light spray of TONI&GUY Extreme Hold Hairspray to hold up the volume I created.

It was like I created a magic concoction of Awesome Hair.

And before anyone screams “Product overload!”, I used the TONI&GUY Deep Clean Shampoo (for Men, may I add!) to remove the product build up.  Result!

TONI&GUY Australia

Allow me to finish off this post with saying that I was sent this fantastic surprise package from TONI&GUY.  Not only did I get hair products galore, but there was also a lovely book called Blogged & Bound featuring 20 of Australia’s influential fashion bloggers (hey, what about us beauty bloggers? :P )

If any of you are wanting to try out TONI&GUY hair products, head to your nearest Priceline as I saw them on offer with 15% off (if memory serves me correctly…)

Anyway, what products give you awesome hair days?  Have you tried TONI&GUY hair products before?  I believe they are new to Australia…but being a Brit, I have loved them for ages.  In fact, one of my favourite haircuts was from the TONI&GUY Hair Salon in Glasgow.  Ah…that makes me a bit homesick…

Easy Ombré Hair With Kevin Murphy Color Bug

ombre hair, pink and purple hair, Kevin Murphy Color Bug

OMG, I have pretty colourful ombré hair which goes from orange to pink to purple.  And guess what?  No bleach was involved!!!  Yes, I have jumped on the Kevin Murphy Color Bug bandwagon and I am singing its praises.

Kevin Murphy Color Bug pink, Kevin Murphy Color Bug orange, Kevin Murphy Color Bug purple

If you haven’t heard of Kevin Murphy Color Bug, where have you been??

It’s temporary hair colour in an instant.  It is SUPER easy and all you have to do is swipe it on to hair directly – it’s  as easy as applying lipstick!  It doesn’t matter if your hair is dark (like my Chinese hair) because the colour transfers easily.  To make it last all day, spritz on some hairspray and you’re good to go.

And at the end of the night, wash it off.  Simple!!!

However, application is a tad messy because the bathroom sink is now covered with orange, pink and purple powder.  I am leaving it there so the better half can clean it up!  Muhahahaha!

At the moment, it’s only available in 3 colours – orange, pink and purple – but I bet there’ll be more colours in the future.  I love the fact that I can have pink hair in an instant and check this – they are only $24.95 each!  For stockists, I shall happily point you in the direction of  http://www.adorebeauty.com.au

Many thanks to the lovely Kevin Murphy PR for sending me these beauties.  My hair loves you!

Update

Popular Youtube beauty guru, Michelle Phan, has been rocking a similar look with her cotton candy ombre hair.  I wonder if she used Kevin Murphy Color Bug too…?

Go Nuts For Revlon Professional Nutri Color Creme In Candied Chestnut

Hi everyone!  How was your Easter weekend?  Mine was really good except for when I had a migraine and vomited twice.  I read The Hunger Games trilogy, ate yummy food and did a bit of packing because we’re moving next week.  I did no blogging whatsoever and I will be blogging less from now on due to numerous reasons…but I’ll save that for another post!  Meanwhile, thank God, I had this blog post prepared earlier…

Revlon hair dye, home hair dye, dark hair, best beauty blog

When the Revlon Professional Nutri Color Creme in 621 Candied Chestnut landed on my desk, I instantly knew who would be the perfect candidate to review this – no, not my receding-hairlined Hubby, but my sister T.  She’s currently staying with us in Melbourne as she’s on a Working Holiday Visa (like I was 2.5 years ago).  T’s hair is crying out for help!  It has been bleached, dyed, but faded and over-heated with hair straighteners and hairdryers.  Yikes!  But look at the before and after photos and you will see that Revlon Professional Nutri Color Creme did a fabulous job.

before & after hair dye, brown hair, Revlon hair products

Her hair looks and feels so much healthier and the colour is more vibrant – and all this in 3 minutes!!!  It was so easy to use.

Famous Last Words

Totally no complaints whatsoever from T.  I dyed my hair a couple of weeks ago {Liese Bubble Hair Colour} and I’m definitely going to use this too when I need to inject some life back into my hair.

Over to you, how was your Easter weekend?  What hair products do you swear by?
