Wow wow wee wow wow! First of all, I have managed to blog 4 days in a row!! Well done me And secondly, my favourite Australian drugstore brand, Face Of Australia, have wowed me again with their newly launched Budge-Proof Gel Eyeliners in a lovely selection of 5 wearable shades. Allow me to introduce you to them.
Bourjois Regard Effet Duochome Eyeliner in #59 Violet Rose has won my heart. Well, that is actually anatomically incorrect because it has been gracing my upper eyelids but let’s not get anatomical here!
Le sigh. The title says it all. When I purchased Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Eyeliner, I had high hopes as it was :-
a) Highly recommended in Sasa
b) A Japanese beauty product
c) Supposed to be long-lasting for 24 hours
The eyeliner itself looked promising too with its blacker-than-black crayon-like texture complete with in-built sharpener and smudger. According to the diagrams at the back of the package, Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Eyeliner was supposed to be perfect for lining upper and lower lash lines and for tight-lining too. But here is what happened to me…
Oh yes! I was loving the look I created with the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Eyeliner. The tip was perfect at drawing lines around my eyes and it glided on pretty smoothly. I really loved the blacker-than-black shade. Tight-lining my waterline was a breeze and it didn’t irritate me at all.
I was super-duper impressed…
Two Hours Later…
Oh my word!! I went from hot to not! Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Eyeliner is supposed to be long-lasting but it couldn’t even last me 2 hours without running. I was distraught.
Bizarrely, I decided not to remove it and I wore it out for dinner. Yep, with smudges running down my face because I’m classy like that. Just before the main course, an annoying black lumpy gunge started to float around my eyeball and irritate my left eye and contact lens. This was residue from the after-effects of tight-lining. My eyes started watering like crazy and in the end, I had to flick off my left contact lens and eat with wonky one-eyed vision. When I got home, I found a bloodshot left eye with black gunge – NOT nice.
I also discovered why Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Eyeliner claims that it is long-lasting. It is a stubborn bitch to remove even with industrial strength eye make-up remover. When I say industrial strength, I mean my scrubbing technique paired with my current HG eye make-up remover.
After I got over that drama-rama, I did try Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Perfect Eyeliner again, but there’s no love there. I will only use it in times of desperation, i.e. when my entire collection of black eyeliners go amiss; which is surprisingly, more common than I would like.
My quest for the perfect black eyeliner continues. Let me know which ones you recommend and I shall put them to the test!
It’s Australia Day today in…Australia! Being a Scottish expat, I don’t really know what it’s all about but I know that the Mr has a day off so we’ll be spending it together – YAY! Today’s post is kinda Aussie-ish because I’ll be talking about an Aussie brand and the product is dark blue (like it is in the Aussie flag). Totally winging this! LOL. Anyway…
Mirenesse is an Australian cosmetic brand which sponsored a number of goodies from their Boutique M Exclusive Collection at ABBW last year. I cannot believe I have failed to give them even a wee mention on this blog! Shame on me!!! One of the products I received was Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eyeliner in Sapphire Blue.
Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eyeliner in Sapphire Blue is unlike all the other felt tip eyeliners I have used (Rimmel, FOA, Heroine Make).
A) It’s not black.
B) It’s actually a gel eyeliner and not a liquid eyeliner. But I wouldn’t be able to differentiate between them because it just felt like a felt tip eyeliner.
Apparently, it can be used to tightline eyes. (Check out Paris B’s tutorial on how to do this) Personally, I have not tried doing this myself with the Mirenesse Tight Liner – mainly because I don’t tend to tightline as my eyes are rather sensitive and the last time I did it, I gave me a pink eye infection. Not good! And also, tightlining with sapphire blue…?? Maybe if I was Lady Gaga…
I just use Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eyeliner in Sapphire Blue the boring old school way – i.e. line upper lash line – but because it is blue, I don’t use it that often…perhaps once in a blue (pun alert) moon!
The colour is intense and it creates lovely thick lines. I actually prefer a thicker tip than too thin (like Heroine Make which is 0.5mm) because it is easier to control. Think of it as walking in high heels. It is easier to walk in high heels like platforms rather than stilettos. Probably didn’t explain that too well, but I hope you know what I mean.
Anyway, Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eyeliners come in a variety of colours so if you’re keen, hop on over to their website and check them out yourself! I actually saw this product pop up in a beauty box in a number of blogs so I’m kinda glad I am reviewing this now! :P
Happy Australia Day to all my Australian readers! And for my non-Aussie readers, happy Thursday! Only one more day till the weekend!!!
Smashbox recently launched their new and limited edition, Girls On Film Colour Collection, in Australia. With eyeshadow palettes, cream eyeliners, blushers and lip glosses in the press release, I was an eager beaver and didn’t hesitate to ask the PR if I could review any product in the collection. And that is how SmashboxGirls On FilmCream Eye Liner Travel Brush Set in Blacklight landed on my doorstep.
I ooh-ed and aah-ed over it for days. The cream black eyeliner with a hint of blue pearl looked so beautiful in its wee glass jar – I didn’t want to dip into it to crack the seamless surface with the flat-edged liner brush. But you know, a beauty blogger’s gotta do her job so read on to find out if this Smashbox product was a smash hit.
Cute things are usually small. True or false? If you answered true, then you have just agreed that I am cute! MUHAHAHA! Because I am a shortie! I am small. It means I am cute! Yes?! Okay, okay, I’ll stop because you need to check these cute little adorable babies out – Avon Color Trend Mini Eyeliners!!!
One of my colleagues is an Avon lady so I’ve pored over their wee brochures countless times but never bought anything because money has been lacking, recently. Boo! But I couldn’t resist when I saw these little beauties at $2 AUD each and snapped up the entire collection – black, blue, green and gold.
Let’s get realistic here and accept that these are just handbag handy items and not long-lasting, pigment-yielding HG eyeliners. Avon Color Trend Mini Eyeliners are the size of my palm and they are simply adorable! And I’m a sucker for anything adorable. Le sigh!
