Picture the following scenario…  You’re getting it on with your partner and it’s getting all hot and heavy when suddenly you feel the roughest sandpaper hands on your delicate body parts.  Do you shriek and stop or carry on because you like it like that?  If you shriek and stop, then you will definitely be interested in the following 3 Mary Kay products from the Satin Hands range which changed my husband’s sandpaper “rough as guts” hands to softer and much more pleasant (but still very manly) hands :-

  • Mary Kay Satin Smoothie Hand Scrub
  • Mary Kay Fragrance Free Hand Softener

My Top 3 Favourite BIODERMA Products & Where You can Buy BIODERMA in Australia

BIODERMA

I think it’s the week for French beauty products!  On Monday, there was Dior and on Tuesday, we had Laura Mercier and today, we have BIODERMA – a popular French skincare beauty brand which made its way to Australia last year.  Famous celebrities have raved about BIODERMA Crealine H2O, the miracle water make-up remover, but there are other awesome products in the range too.  Here are my top 3 favourites :-

1.  BIODERMA Crealine H2O

DUH!  Of course, I love this miracle water.  I have an entire blog post dedicated to its awesomeness { read my awesome review if you haven’t already }  The best news ever is that it is now available in a flat top pump dispenser in 500ml in Australia.  (More details on where you can buy BIODERMA in Australia later)

2.   BIODERMA Atoderm  Ultra-Rich Foaming Gel (somehow sounds sexier in French ‘Gel moussant’)

The Atoderm range is AMAZEBALLS for those with dry / sensitive skin and can be used on babies and children too!  Anyway, the beauty of the Ultra-Rich Foaming Gel is that it can be used on the body AND face!!!  I was delighted when I found out because I kinda get a little shower gel envy when I see my Husband use his shower gel on his face.  Now I can do the same too without worrying that it will strip my face of its natural oils :)

3.  BIODERMA Atoderm Nourishing Cream

This is another product from the Atoderm range that I adore as I am a dry / sensitive skin sufferer.  Last month, you may recall that I vowed to moisturise my body every day { refresh your memory if you can’t remember } and this is one of the moisturisers that my skin lapped up.

LA CLINICA Gly C Refine Body Refining Micro Dermabrasion Kit

La Clinica Skin Care, La Clinica reviews

A few weeks ago, I came home from a long hard day at work to find a lovely surprise package from the wonderful people at the Melbourne-based certified organic skincare brand, La Clinica.  I literally had a *squee* moment when I saw that it was the LA CLINICA Gly C Refine Body Refining Micro Dermabrasion Kit.

The products in the LA CLINICA Gly C Refine Body Refining Micro Dermabrasion Kit are :-

  • Gly C Refine Body Wash Gel Glycolic Acid 8%
  • Gly C Refine Body Moisturiser Glycolic Acid 10%
  • Gly C Refine Micro Dermabrasion Body Scrub Glycolic Acid 14%

As it is Winter in Melbourne, I have plenty of dead flaky skin all over my arms and legs so after taking photos, I whisked away the products and took them into the shower that night and I have been using this every second day for the last few weeks.  I don’t think I can use it every day because I am worried that the glycolic acid is too abrasive for my skin.

La Clinica skincare, La Clinica review

Gly C Refine Body Wash Gel Glycolic Acid 8%

This lavender-smelling clear gel is pretty nice on my skin, especially when I use it with my awesome Kuu Konjac sponge.  It doesn’t foam up though which is a shame because I love a good foamy shower.  Also, the pump dispenser is a tad small for my liking for a body wash which means it is a little troublesome.

Gly C Refine Micro Dermabrasion Body Scrub Glycolic Acid 14%

So after using the Body Wash, I use the Body Scrub and it’s my favourite product in the kit.  There are tiny microbeads in the Body Scrub which exfoliate away all the dead flaky skin on my body and it reveals all the nice soft skin underneath.  It’s a gentle exfoliant which doesn’t leave my skin feeling raw and sore.  LOVE IT!

Gly C Refine Body Moisturiser Glycolic Acid 10%

This isn’t any ordinary body moisturiser because it contains glycolic acid.  This means that it continues to refine skin whilst hydrating my skin.  Apparently, with continued usage, it can help with stretch marks and discolourations.  Genius!

I can definitely see an improvement in the texture of my skin as it is a lot smoother and softer to touch, especially on my arms.  As for refining skin in terms of stretch marks (I have some on my inner thighs – NO IDEA how they got there), I will update this if or when I notice any improvements there.  Thanks again La Clinica for this lovely gift.  If you want to purchase the LA CLINICA Gly C Refine Body Refining Micro Dermabrasion Kit AU$90 to try for yourself, then please head to laclinica.com and let them know I sent you :)

Get Or Forget : Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes

No offence** but, seriously :-

a) Who writes reviews on cleansing wipes?
b) Who really wants to read a review on cleansing wipes?

These are the thoughts running through my mind as I write this review on Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes.  How ironic!  But the reason why I am writing this review is to test out a new review format : Get Or Forget…  Let me know if you Get this format or should I Forget it.  (*chuckles at my own very un-funny puns*)

Dove, facial cloth, wipes, cleansing

I found these Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes inside my goodie bag when I attended the Australian Open.  I used to be a wipes-kinda-gal and would use all different varieties including baby wipes to wipe my make-up off or to cleanse my face.  It was so quick and easy for a lazy gal like me.  But now that I am older and wiser, I don’t use wipes for these purposes at all because they don’t perform as well as the individual products they are supposed to replace, i.e. make-up remover, cleanser, toner and moisturiser.

Get Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes if :-

  • You have a tendency to sweat and smell; but can’t get access to a shower
  • You are going through a deodorant-free phase to…you know…air your pits and you’re looking for a scented substitute
  • You don’t wear slippers around the house and you can’t be bothered to wash your feet before you jump into bed
  • You’re looking for an alcohol-free wipe to spot clean make-up brushes
  • You’re going camping or travelling and need to travel light
  • It’s on a special deal at your local pharmacist

Forget Dove Beauty Cleansing Wipes if :-

  • You are looking for a non-scented wipe
  • You’re happy with the baby wipes you use which work out to be much cheaper per wipe

** I dislike it when people who say “No offence, but…” because it’s as if it gives them a valid excuse to say offensive things!  And all I wanna say is, “No offence, but STFU!”  Yes, I am well aware that I have used the exact same phrase to introduce  this post.  The theme of the day is ‘irony’!!!**

What are your thoughts on cleansing wipes?  And is the review format Get Or Forget a keeper?  And what do you think about people who say “No offence, but…” sentences?

Asians, Alcohol And After Sun

I know there are many factors of being “typically Asian”, but for the sake of this post, I have altered it to suit my requirements.  You know you’re a typical Asian if :-

a)  You cannot handle alcohol and go bright red and get drunk easily.
b)  You avoid the sun because you don’t want to get tanned.

This was all of me a couple of weeks ago…except in my alcoholic state, I welcomed the sun into my life and this kinda happened…

alcohol and asians don't mix

Being a sunny day, there was nothing more refreshing than a nicely chilled Rekordelig cider (they are so damn yummy!!!).  I wore my sunnies and sat in the shade, slowly sipping my cider.  One can later, I was beaming red and tipsy.  Off came my long-sleeved top and I was prancing around in the glaring sun with my bare skin sans sunscreen!!  Shock, horror, faint!  *THUD*

I preach the importance of sunscreen and there I was, drunk as a punk, basking in the blazing sun in all my sunscreen-free glory.  (I did a similar thing once when I was holidaying in Costa Brava and promptly spewed out my pint of beer before I got to the toilet.  Pleasant holiday memories…)  There was no spewing this time round; but there was tanning of the unwanted kind.

Perfect timing to bring out the Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating I was sent for review a while ago.  I never thought I would have the opportunity to use it but here I was, slapping it all over my sunburnt bits.

If you’re looking for a comprehensive review about Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating, you have come to the wrong beauty blog. There’s not much for me to say because :-

a)  I have never used an After Sun before so I can’t compare it with others.
b)  I used it in my post-alcoholic pre-hangover state.  Yes, I get hangovers from one sip of wine!

All I can say is that it’s like a moisturiser and it’s nourishing for the skin.  Smells alright and absorbs very well in the presence of sunburnt, dehydated skin.

My skin didn’t peel off and it didn’t hurt…so did I really get sunburnt??  Maybe it was just a tan…?  Anyway, because of that, I cannot comment on the soothing factor of this product.  And I refuse to burn till my skin peels off for the sake of beauty blog research.

Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating claims to “prolong tans” but that’s the last thing I want!!!  Definitely one for the sun junkies!

Lesson learnt : I must only drink alcohol after the sun goes down.  Forget treating my skin to After Sun moisturisers, alcohol can be my after sun treat!

Do you use After Sun?  I don’t think I have ever met anyone who uses After Sun…  Are there After Sun products for your face?  Sorry.  I am an After Sun noob!  But most importantly, what’s your favourite flavour of Rekorderlig?
