Review of Eye Define – Eyelid Stickers for Hooded Eyelids

double eyelid stickers, Eye Define review, eyelid strips for hooded eyelids

Just wanted to start off by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me in my quest to being a Clinique It Girl 2013.  Thank you so much for your votes and for sharing!  There are still another 3 weeks of voting to go so will keep you posted.  This is also a game-changer but YOU CAN VOTE FOR ME MORE THAN ONCE AND AS OFTEN AS YOU LIKE!!!!  (Which also increases your chance of winning a $500 Clinique Prize Pack!)  If you haven’t voted yet, here are the details {link}.  Anyway, back to today’s review of an eyelid sticker for hooded eyelids – Eye Define.

My right hooded eyelid leapt for joy after my first try at applying Eye Define.  It went from being hooded to being a double eyelid, like it used to be in my younger youthful days before gravity took over.

AUM Firming Eye Cream

Happy Saturday ladies!  I’m going to stuff cotton wool balls into my ears to block out unwanted noises just to watch today’s Australian Open women’s final with a grunting Sharapova and a screaming Azarenka.  What will you be doing today?

Anyway, last week, I reviewed my first ever organic eyeshadow palette and today, I’m reviewing my first ever organic eye cream and it’s AUM Firming Eye Cream.

AUM products, organic skincare review

Product Description

A light cream with Aum’s signature Marine Complex helps brighten and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Ocra and Argan extracts help smooth skin for a refreshed and youthful eye contour area.

My Thoughts

The skincare product I use the least is any kind of body moisturiser including hand cream – because I am lazy and it takes too much effort to rub in the cream.  And then it’s eye cream – not because I am lazy.  I try and take care of my face because generally, people see my face and not my naked body.  I want to look as young as possible.  But I tend to steer away from eye cream because they usually end up giving me milia (white sesame seed spots around eyes which are a HUGE pain to extract!)

With AUM Firming Eye Cream, I have been using it on and off for a couple of months.  It is light and more thick serum-ish than a cream.  I like that it’s in a dropper bottle instead of a jar – but because of its consistency, too much of the product can get dispensed at one time.  After application and when it dries, I noticed a ‘tight’ feeling around my eyes – it must be doing its thang by firming up the skin!  It didn’t reduce my eyebags and dark circles though.  After a while, a couple of milia formed on my right eyelid area so I stopped using it.  And then I went back on it…and then I stopped again.

If you’re into organic skincare and you’re looking for a light eye cream to target fine lines, do check out AUM Firming Eye Cream.  It’s affordable at under $30 too!

The Cutest Eye Masks Ever!

Happy Boxing Day!!!  If you have been up all night celebrating Christmas and had way too much alcohol and little or no beauty sleep, then you may need something to soothe those swollen eyes before heading out for Boxing Day sales…and this is why it’s good to have eye masks in the beauty cupboard!

pig, cat, eye masks

Aren’t these the cutest eye masks ever??!!!!  I bought these last year when I was gallivanting in Hong Kong.

There’s like a fluid pack contained within the eye mask.  I say fluid because I don’t know whether it’s water or saline…but who cares?  The instructions were written in Korean but I recognised a Chinese word which said “ice” – so I assumed it meant that you can put the masks in the fridge or freezer.  And ahhhh when I put it in the freezer, it’s AMAZING!  They are fantastically cooling and relaxing when my eyes are tired or slightly swollen!!

“Oink oink!” and “Miaow!”

Cuties huh?  Anyway, since I am going to Hong Kong in 2 more sleeps, I’ll keep an eye out (pun intended) for more cute eye masks.  Let me know if you would be interested in a giveaway for cute eye masks and if there’s enough demand, I’ll buy a couple!

Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover

I found this post I wrote when I first started beauty blogging a year ago but it got put into the Drafts folder and never got published…till today… *smiles*  Back then, I was trying to follow a rigid formula to write product reviews and it was boring!  Nowadays, I just write whatever pops into my mind…and it’s probably still boring, but at least, I have a unique voice!  Anyway, here it is, in its unedited glory…with very small pics…!!

Removing all your eye make-up before going to sleep is vital so that your skin can breathe and regenerate.  My ideal eye make-up remover is affordable, gentle to my eyes and the delicate eye area and extremely simple and effective to use.  After using up my previous eye make-up remover, Simple Kind To Eyes, I went and bought a new one to try out – Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover.

cats

Drew an eye with eyeliner, painted on eyeshadow and put on some smudged mascara.  Soaked a cotton pad with Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover and placed it on the area for a few seconds.  Required two wipes to remove all make-up.

My Opinions

  • Likes : relatively quick and easy to use, affordable, doesn’t sting eyes
  • Dislikes : contains fragrance

Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover gets a 7 out of 10 for me…but I am still on the hunt for my ideal eye make-up remover.  Any suggestions?

Trilogy Age Proof CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate

A while ago, the good people at Trilogy sent me their new eye product for review – Trilogy Age Proof CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate – which promises “brighter and younger looking eyes”.  And we all know that I love any product that promises to rewind time.  I put this baby to the test with daily usage for over a month and I have finally written my review…

b collection by bloom Magic Wand Makeup Remover

If you didn’t know already, b collection by bloom is the little sister of Bloom cosmetics, which was created exclusively for Target (pronounced Tar-jay by Aussies; as a joke.  No, I don’t get it either…).  When I was offered the opportunity to test out b collection by bloom Magic Wand Makeup Remover, a recent winner of the Shop Til You Drop Genius Awards, how could a girl say no?

b collection by bloom Magic Wand Makeup Remover, eye makeup remover

What b collection Say

b collection’s Magic Wand Makeup Remover is the perfect tool for precision makeup removal. The fine tip removes stubborn makeup without disturbing your look.

My Opinions

b collection Magic Wand Makeup Remover is basically a marker pen with makeup remover as its ink (if that makes any sense at all).  Because of it’s Q-tip-sized nib, I find it useful for removing smudged eyeliner or mascara fibres on eyelids, without messing up the rest of my eye make-up.  It has become a permanent fixture in my handbag’s make-up bag.

The germophobe in me is not too happy with the transfer of bacteria, especially when I use this a lot around my eyes.  It can also get a bit streaky from previous uses.  But fear not, as I have found a solution.  I see no wrong in giving the tip a quick wash under the hot water tap.  Still works well afterwards.

I have no idea how long this nifty tool will last me but as it retails for RRP of $14.95 AUD, it’s not exactly breaking the bank.  For a cheaper (and more hygienic) alternative, you can use a cotton bud dipped in make-up remover – but if you’re on-the-go and need to get rid of smudged eyeliner pronto, don’t use your grubby fingers to rub, get a b collection Magic Wand Makeup Remover and let it do its magic!

ROC Retin-Ox Wrinkle Correxion Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream

I have always struggled to find a decent eye cream.  Most of them are too rich for my delicate eye area and as a result, I get little whiteheads (aka milia) around my eyes.  And it is a painful procedure to squeeze them.  (Erm, I don’t think it is recommended to squeeze them, but I do it anyway!)  Anyway, I bought a new eye cream last year to test out and here is my review on ROC Retin-Ox Wrinkle Correxion Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream.

ROX Retin-Ox Cream, ROX eye cream

Product Description

A light moisturising cream that combines 3 powerful anti-wrinkle ingredients to smooth wrinkles around the eye, even the deep ones.  It also contains a “light capture” technology to help fight the appearance of dark circkles.

ROC scientists have identified 3 major causes of wrinkle formation : slowdown of cell renewal, decrease of collagen and degradation of elastin.  After years of research, ROC has created a unique technology to help fight wrinkles where they start by fighting these 3 causes of wrinkle formation.

Product Ingredients

ROX retin-ox ingredients

A powerful combination of 3 anti-wrinkle ingredients : retinol, hyaluronic acid and biopeptide, is released to help regenerate cells, increase collagen synthesis and stimulate elastin production.

Product Claims

Day after day, your skin is smoother, plumper, more radiant.

Week after week, even the appearance of deep wrinkles is reduced.

Method Of Application

ROX Retin-Ox eye cream application

I like to apply 3 dots of eye cream at the corner of my eyes (the crow’s feet area which is the wrinkly bit) with my pinky finger.  And then gently use a tapping motion to massage it in.

Please note that I do not use this product daily because like I mentioned before, I develop whiteheads easily from using eye cream.  But I have been using this 4-5 times a week.

My Opinions

  • I like the ingredients retinol and hyaluronic acid – which are known to help fight wrinkles and plump up skin.
  • This eye cream has a gel-like texture which is light and absorbs into my skin easily.
  • Comes in a 15ml tube and is going to last me a long time.
  • Can only be used as a night eye cream…why?  Read on…

Warning

As a newbie at beauty blogging, I have started looking into product ingredients.  I am shocked to discover that retinol and sunlight do not agree with each other!  Retinol is a form of vitamin A and yes, it does help reduce wrinkles and firms up the skin BUT it also increases the skin’s sensitivity to light.  Retinol when used in direct sunlight can actually deepen wrinkles!!  (source here)

As a result, I have had to change my routine and I only use skincare products containing retinol and any of its derivatives at night now.  Please check your skincare products carefully.
