FOTD : Sweet Tart Beauty Breakdown

Without disclosing personal stuff*, I have been feeling a bit down lately… One of the reasons was the fact that my neck decided to give up on me and not function for 3-4 days.  I was on a lot of painkillers!  (I despise being so dependent on pills!!!)  Anyway, my neck is still not 100% and I am still undergoing treatment for it but on Monday, I could finally move it again and that’s when I managed to put on a real smile, apply some make-up and do a fun video.

Seeing as I got over 50 likes on Instagram (thanks peeps!) and I got inundated with requests (okay, there were only 2!) about my lippie shade on the make-up look I wore for my Big Hair Styler 1000 video, I thought it would be cool to name my look Sweet Tart and do a beauty breakdown of the products I used.


FACE

Base :  Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin UV Under Base Youthful Radiance Mousse – peachy radiant base
Foundation :  Shu Uemura Face Architech Smoothing Fluid Foundation – my all-time favourite foundation { review }
Blusher :  Natio Mineral Blush – nice glow

EYES

Primer :  Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer – the best of the best!
Eyeshadows :  Mirenesse Pearl Crush Creaseless Shadows – lovely pigments
Eyeliner :  Physicians Formula Brown Eyeliner – smudge-proof and great for waterline
Lashes :  Katy Perry Oh Honey { see full range here } – fluttery lashes galore

LIPS

1st Layer :  Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart { swatched here }
2nd Layer :  Mirenesse Lip Bomb #5 – a pale pink lip lacquer
3rd Layer :  Mirenesse Lip Bomb #1 – a cherry red lip lacquer

Yes, a tri-colour lippy blend!!!

Loved the results and will be wearing this make-up look out again for sure :)  Anyway, thanks for reading and putting up with my endless rambling.  In 9 days, this blog turns 2 years old!  I can’t quite believe it because I feel like I have been beauty blogging forever.  LOL.

*I think a lot of people are turned off by the amount and depth of personal sharing I do on this beauty blog so from now on, I will try and refrain from blogging about deeply personal stuff and keep it lighter…but I will still add my wee personal touches so dontcha worry!

    hey ling! i love your personal thoughts! please do overshare with deeply personal stuff!!

    i hate how all semi-professional beauty bloggers out there are so political correct all the time… but that’s not what a blog’s for! if you want political correctness, read the financial times, not blogs – my view.

    i understand that they do not want to put off their sponsors/pr people, and i will understand if that is the reason why you would rather not share personal things, however.

    @amorette, Oh you are so sweet! Thanks!!! I was worried that I was coming across as totally un-professional! And then when I did overshare the other day (with the thrush story), 2 readers unsubscribed from my blog and I got kinda upset thinking that they had enough of me and my TMI…. Do you think I should keep being myself or tone down a bit?

    @Ling, two people unsubscribed?? that’s pretty shocking. they may have unsubscribed though because they had too many subscriptions and tried to spring clean their feeds?

    also, i totally forgot to wish you well – duh! i’m socially awkward like that >< have you ever tried a chiropractor for your neck? a year ago i was interviewing one, actually. admittedly, while i was researching some background info, i saw that there was no real empirical evidence in chiro's favour – anecdotal evidence only. BUT if your osteopath couldn't help you, it may be worth a shot?

    And thanks for the suggestions – I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun – chiropractor, acupuncture, cupping, Chinese meds, massage therapy, physiotherapy…and now, osteotherapy…I am just falling apart LOL

    My neck refused to function a couple of weeks back. I went for a really deep tissue massage that was painful but 2 days later I was right as rain and I can now turn my head left and right again. It beats painkillers so see if you can get it done where you are :) Oh and write however you are comfortable with writing. Its what your readers come for :)

    @Paris B, Oh Paris, if only my neck would behave better like yours. I went to see an Osteopath and she went DEEP and my neck still would not behave!!! Apparently, it’s related to a car accident I had when I was 18 and it will haunt me forever. Le sigh!!! Did you have to walk around with robotic movements too?? LOL…it’s actually kinda funny watching someone walking around with a stiff neck..but not so funny when the neck belongs to you!!! :P

    And about the writing thing…really? I am most comfortable when I ramble on about myself and share something and then I talk about the product and have a story. I mean, I know you write a thesis too on your blog but at least your stories are relevant. Mine are here, there and everywhere! I need to learn from you more ;)

    Hope your neck is feeling better my dear! And you are an amazing person, don’t let a few unsubbies ruin your day. Those who stick around love to hear the real you.

    I always overshare with my friends, so that is how I would write on my blog too. You make me laugh out so loud in front of the computer, my hubby always wonders what mischief I’m up to. lol!

    I’ve never triple layered lippie, but i’ve doubled with Revlon Lip Butter and love the ‘buttery’ texture and the soft colours.. thanx for the idea :)
