Following on from yesterday’s trending topic #GASPFAIL and after giving them a phone call (yes, I DID!!!) where they confirmed that it was not a hoax, I decided to browse through the GASP website and have a look at their dresses which, as they say are “cutting edge” and priced so that they are “inaccessible to the undesirable”.  Let’s have a look at some of the dresses which are currently for sale in the GASP Collection and let me know in the comments what you think – are GASP dresses really “cutting edge”?

GASP Dress #1 :  This is GE01-RP priced at $300 AUD.  It’s back by popular demand!

GASP Dress #2 :  This is EH33-BK priced at $200 AUD (originally $450 AUD!!!)

GASP Dress #3 :  This is G1059-PP priced at $190 AUD.

GASP Dress #4 : This is G200-WT priced at $100 AUD.  (OK…I just realised this is not a dress!!!  FAIL!!!  LOL!)

GASP Dress #5 : This is GS118-WT priced at $200 AUD.

So…what do you think?  Are GASP dresses “cutting edge” and priced so that they are “inaccessible to the undesirable”?

Images from GASP website and dresses can be purchased online to avoid dealing with a certain “retail superstar”!!

Personally, these dresses are not to my taste…but then again, I don’t have a “sixth sense for fashion”!!

this is why they’re called flamingo dresses, ‘dahling’. even their models look like they stumbled off the jersey shore set. some of the comments on GASP’s facebook, about how they support GASP are horrible. enough already, GASP is pretty much a tosser.

Not my taste at all. Looks like the designer’s motto is ‘less cloth = style’.

@rinnah, To be honest, GASP looks cheap not chic!

I actually quite like the black and white top.. Haha.. But I won’t pay that amount at all.

Are there worse pictures than these to portray GASP in a much more negative light coz I actually thought they look fine except for the price and the models posing for them (1st 3 pictures). I can imagine Kim K wearing them and she would not look skanky in them. Oops… am I skanky or slutty to think they’re fine? *runs and hide*

Maybe when I’m free-er at night, I would try to browse their site for a while to find some atrocious pieces which they pride themselves as cutting edge and inaccessible to the undesirable.

@Jolene, Hahaha, I actually chose quite nice pictures right? There were trashier ones but I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s eyes LOLOL!

    Two words: Brownlow Medals.

Unless the next big fashion movement is looking like a skank, these are in no way fashion forward.

They are in no way cutting edge! Basically if you want to blend in at the trashiest nightclubs then wear GASP. And inaccessible to the undesirables? Seriously, how poor do they think the masses are that they can’t afford these skanky pieces… there is a difference between affording it, and actually being stupid enough to pay those prices. And as a final note, I’m pretty sure similar clothes are actually sold at Supre, but at 10th of the price.

@Lilit, Love your comment Lilit. But yeah, who do GASP think they are?!!! And who keeps shopping in there to keep them in business? It’s crazy!

These dresses need less cut and more edge.

HOW THE HELL IS $200 EXPENSIVE!?

      30/09/2011 at 6:03 pm (6 years ago)

@Haute Style, LOL! And WTF? Inaccessible to the undesirable…?? Even if GASP was deemed “accessible”, it would not be desirable in my eyes 😀

Those clothes are hideous, so trashy and I would not call Kim k, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry ‘A’ list – more like ‘D’ list!

well as you should know, English is not my native language, so I can´t understand the meaning of “cutting edge” easily. The first time I read it I thought it was that they are trying to save material (cloth) and if I think, that is exactly what they do with their dresses, they look as they didn´t have enough cloth to finish them…hahaha
Anyway I still can´t understand the real meaning of the sentences but I don´t care because I will never buy in that store, I´m not so special and I don´t have a 6th sense for fashion.
    Kisses!!

I’ll admit I have a few Gasp dresses sitting in a suitcase at the top of my wardrobe (I’m running low on storage) and OMG their are horrible! I found them a few months ago and can’t believe that 15/16 year old me though they were lovely. They’re the ones that were popular 5 years ago with the ‘wide ribbon’ covering your chest that was great because they
‘can be worn so many different ways’ lol

Gasp have managed to get even trashier since then and are in no way ‘fashion forward’… I’m sure if I searched hard I could maybe find a dress in their stores that was ok, but i’d rather not

ps. their brand isn’t ‘exclusive’ like their suggesting either and personally I wouldn’t say that their expensive for a party/occasion dress either…

      @Ella WhyI’mBroke, It’s okay Ella WhyI’mBroke, you’ve seen the light! 😀

And I wouldn’t be so annoyed with GASP if they hadn’t said such stupid things like how their clothes are “cutting edge” and “inaccessible to the undesirables” – what a load of…*bleep*….!! 😛

I dont think Gasp are cutting edge, skanky is not new or cutting edge

@Megan, Apart from people who work in GASP, who thinks they are cutting edge…I wonder…??

Those dresses are hideous and klunky – if a dress can be klunky?? If they make these pretty models look bad, what on earth will they do for the rest of us.

But then again, I am not fashion forward enough…!

@Mid 30s Life, LOL, yes you need to be “fashion forward” with a “sixth sense” to appreciate GASP dresses 😛
