At the start of my maternity leave at 34 weeks, I was doing lots of things from nesting activities to discovering a love for baking to going out to meet friends for lunch / brunch / dinner / shopping dates. In between those busy moments, I still found time to blog. But then, as soon as I reached the 36 week stage, all my best laid plans came to a halt as I physically could not keep up and I was cancelling dates left, right and centre and now, I am virtually a prisoner in my own home!!! Luckily, my Mum flew in from Scotland just in time to take care of me and pamper to all my needs! Yay! All I have been doing these days is sleeping, eating, scratching my itchy stretch marks and playing Candy Crush (yes, I am back on that stupid addictive game again!!). My energy levels are low but that is probably partially due to the low iron levels in my blood as confirmed by the doctor yesterday. Le sigh. Anyway, that is my pregnancy update for now…
As for today’s blog post, I was triggered to write about Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner after receiving this cute rubber duck #NIVEAduckie in the mail this week. I was like, “Oh, it’s a rubber duck from Nivea – how cute. Oh wait a minute, I should write a review on that Nivea shower moisturiser if I have the energy tomorrow…”, so here I am today – Yay!!
I was influenced to purchase Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner after reading rave reviews on other beauty blogs so when I spotted this at Coles supermarket for half price, I bought TWO because if a bunch of beauty bloggers say a product is good, it generally is good! #beautybloggersareenablers
If you haven’t heard of this product yet, you may be wondering what is so special about a Nivea moisturiser…
Basically, it is NOT any old body moisturiser you slap on AFTER a shower. You actually apply it while you are HAVING a shower!!! And there is NO NEED to apply a normal body moisturiser afterwards!
Some girls may love applying body moisturiser but I’ve given myself the nickname Lazy Ling for a reason! I know it is beneficial to moisturise skin and all that jazz, but seriously, it is a highly mundane chore which I refuse to adopt as a daily habitual ritual. It is TOO MUCH EFFORT for me to stand in my awesome nakedness after taking a shower to dry myself with a towel and then apply body lotion to my entire body, wait for the cream to absorb and then wear clothes. I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THAT! Especially during the cold Winter months!!! (And soon with a newborn bubs – YIKES!)
This means that I love Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner! It has made body moisturising so easy for lazybones me. All I have to do is do my thing in the shower and then slap this all over my body and rinse it off. Somehow, it seems easier to do this extra in-shower step than to do it after shower….if you catch my drift.
I don’t understand how or what, especially as the lotion is rinsed off after application (with no time limits on how long it stays on skin), but it actually leaves my skin feeling soft and…duh…moisturised!!
The version of the Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner I bought is for Very Dry Skin – which I definitely have since I rarely moisturise my body. (There is a Normal/Dry Skin version in a white bottle.) It has been especially fantastic recently as my body has been going through physical changes growing a baby. My skin has been EXTRA dry and feeling tight and this has been comforting and nourishing. I don’t USUALLY apply this on my baby bump because I have been using Uriage Xemose moisturiser on the bump (review eventually!) but when I am having an EXTRA lazy day where I cannot even lift up my top to let Hubby apply moisturiser to my big bump (yes, I told you I was lazy!), I will use this.
The one thing I am not particularly keen on, but can overlook, is the strong signature Nivea scent. It is not unpleasant but I wish there was a fragrance-free version.
As I am in the final stages of pregnancy (2.5 weeks to go), I am EXTRA CLUMSY and have been walking into chairs and doors!! This means that I have had to momentarily stop using Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner because the residue it leaves behind in my shower can make it a bit slippery (even though the ingredient list is free of silicones) and my Husband has deemed this unsafe for usage for now. But mark my words, I will be back on Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner ASAP and I will be stockpiling this (especially when there are Nivea deals on in Priceline or Coles) in anticipation for next Winter! It’s only around $8 for 400ml so you really can’t go wrong with a fantastic cheap and cheerful product which works and makes body moisturising so much easier for lazy girls like me!
Anyway, thanks for reading and putting up with my sporadic blog posting. And thank you Nivea for the #NIVEAduckie but if you’re reading, please make a fragrance-free version of Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner and *cough* send me some bottles please 😛 Okay, off for a wee afternoon nap because it has taken me 1.5 hours to write and edit this blog post with photos…will keep you updated with pregnancy news next time, but if you want instant updates, I’ve recently started micro-blogging-on-the-go (even though I haven’t been going anywhere!) on Dayre (a new social media app which is an amalgamation of Twitter and Instagram) so stalk me there @Xyling to your heart’s content
