Back in my mascara-lovin’ days, I ventured into Christian Dior Cosmetics by purchasing their Diorshow Mascara to give me va-va-voom lashes. And then when that love affair ended, I didn’t think much of Dior apart from reading the odd blog reviews and then this year, I started noticing Dior again. It started when I was fortunate enough to win one of the Dior Addict lipsticks from Paris B, blogger of My Women Stuff and then after divine intervention (AKA an email) from Christian Dior Cosmetics, I was blessed with a couple of their items to review on my good old beauty blog. Today I am going to show you Dior Diorskin Nude Compact.
Diorskin Nude Compact – is it a Foundation or a Powder?
Guess what? It is both!!! I love a multi-functional product and depending on the finish you want, Diorskin Nude Compact can act as a foundation or a powder! How? Thanks to the ultra-fine powder particles obtained by a process of dual refinement, in addition to micro-pearlisers and opalescent powders that boost the natural glow of the complexion. Sounds very complex so let’s allow the pictures to do the talking…
Diorskin Nude Compact : Packaging
It comes in a velvet pouch which is very useful because it has a few uses :-
1. Protects the compact if I were to drop it (I am clumsy and I’ve killed many eyeshadow palettes from my whoopsies!)
2. Has a pocket which contains a compact brush to use to powder face
3. Dusts off my grubby fingerprints from the compact case
Inside the compact is a double-sided sponge. The sponge side helps build up coverage to use as foundation. The velvety side is for touch-ups and a lighter glow.
To be honest, the compact brush and the wee sponge are not the ideal applicators for Diorskin Nude Compact. I prefer to use other make-up brushes and sponge for a better finish. However, they are fantastic to use for touch-ups on the go.
Overall, the packaging screams LUXE with the Dior embossed compact case! It is definitely one to bring out just to show off to your girlfriends But beware of the fingerprints!
Diorskin Nude Compact as a Foundation
As a foundation, it feels very light on my skin. It isn’t heavy or cakey at all. The colour I have is 030 and it matches my NC-30 skin very well (sorry, I don’t have a swatch photo) and it partially conceals unwanted pigmentation (and can completely conceal if you go for a heavier finish). I so wanted to love this as a foundation except for one big problem. My dry flaky skin had to ruin everything. I have tried a few primers and given my face a good exfoliation session prior to using this, but sadly, it highlights my flakies especially around my forehead. See photographic evidence. Le sigh.
Diorskin Nude Compact as a Powder
I was really sad to discover that my dry flaky skin did not take to Diorskin Nude Compact as a foundation…but as a powder or even as a touch-up on top of existing foundation, no problemo!!! The lovely silky smooth fine particles help set my make-up and helps to give me the My Skin But Better finish.
