Fantastic news! Hubby got a job which he started last week which explains the lack of posts due to full-on SAHM (stay at home mum) duties. And boy, I seriously underestimated how a mini human could keep me so busy!!
Don’t get me wrong, I love my little fambam dearly but when they went on a Daddy Daughter Date recently (they actually went supermarket shopping in Coles hehe), I was beyond ecstatic to have a couple hours of “me time” to indulge in whatever tickled my fancy. The first thing I did was strip naked…
…to have a good look at myself in all my naked glory – FYI, no naked selfies were taken!!! (I have also just realised that the title of this post is pretty incriminating if you know what I mean!! But rest assured, there is nothing dodgy in here…there was no time for THAT kind of “me time”!!)
Obviously my body has been through a lot in the past year – gained around 24kg for pregnancy complete with stretch marks and varicose veins and then shedding the majority of that through the wonders of breastfeeding…which unfortunately equates to droopier boobs these days 😛 Body aside, there’s my hair – more can be found all over the place than on my head due to moulting – and it means that it was looking rather limp and lacklustre. Moving onto my face – oh the eyebags, the leftover pregnancy pigmentation, ooh some blackheads asking to be squeezed and hehe, my upper lip facial hair which my Husband fondly calls Tashy.
Now I could have stood in front of that mirror and gave myself self-crit the ENTIRE day, but I knew I had limited “me time” so I had to be productive.
I put on my current fave jam –> Mikeschair, a contemporary Christian band <— and gathered a selection of beauty bits ‘n’ pieces before heading into the shower. I took the longest shower everrrrrr since giving birth. It was SOOOO good!
After shampooing, I used Toni & Guy Nourish Reconstruction Mask* – my hair was so luscious and detangled after this mask!
I used Clinique Deep Comfort Body Wash all over my body – I could definitely tell that I was using a luxurious shower cream instead of my usual cheaper drugstore version.
I was so reluctant to turn off the water haha! With my wet hair wrapped up in a turban, I wiped away the steam from the mirror so I could squeeze those blackheads. That was F-U-N!!! And then I popped on a sheet mask – Michika Rejuvenating Anti-Fatigue Facial Mask* – which helped refresh my dull and extremely tired skin.
I realised I couldn’t get dressed yet with the sheet mask on my face so I decided to take my sweet time to moisturise my body with Aveda Stress-Fix Body Creme*, which is an ultra-decadent moisturiser with a soothing lavender scent. When my fingertips felt the stretch marks around my belly, I gave a little smile as I remembered the joy and blessings that Baby Bunty has brought into our lives.
After removing the sheet mask and getting dressed, I decided to skip facial hair removal and do that another day. Instead, I fancied some ice cream –> Peter’s Vanilla Drumstick is the bomb <– so that’s what I scoffed whilst checking Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I am a sucker for social media so I stayed online longer than I anticipated before I realised that I was wasting all my precious “me time”…
I dashed up to my Beauty Room and decided to paint my nails…but I had #firstworldproblems and couldn’t decide which colour!!!
Essie have released a limited edition sparkly range, Encrusted*, and they were all calling out my name… (It’s only available till end of August at Priceline so hop to it quick!)
…but so was Face Of Australia’s new Dark Side* range with the mysterious and vampy shades.
So what did I do? I painted my toes with Essie Lots Of Lux – gorgeous sparkly blue – and used Face Of Australia Dark Side to do an ombre vampy purple with glitter accent on my fingernails.
Waiting for nails (2-3 coats) to dry must be one of the most tedious things ever. I actually fell asleep in the most uncomfortable way – sitting upright on my computer chair with the “fishing” head movements – because I couldn’t curl up in bed for a quick nap with wet nail polish, could I?
And just when I thought I could snuggle up in bed to watch an episode of Orange Is The New Black (who else thinks Piper is the doppelganger of Katy Perry?!), the front door opened and in came my hungry baby girl who was looking for my boobs to feed her!
Oh well, “me time” was officially over, but it was great while it lasted!
