Daiso is a Japanese store which arrived in Australian shores recently.  It sells all-sorts from household items to stationery to beauty items, all at $2.80 AUD each.  The Husband and I always wander into the Doncaster Shoppingtown branch because there’s always new cool and kooky Japanese goods to gawk at.  Of course, it doesn’t contain all the goodies available in its Asian counterparts and it isn’t as cheap, but at a mere $2.80, it doesn’t break the bank.  (You may remember that I reviewed the Daiso Double Eyelid Stickers recently.)  Anyway, here’s my recent wee haul from Daiso…

Daiso, lipstick, detergent, double eyelid glue

1.  Daiso Geeky Glasses With UV Protection 400

Oooh, I love these oversized plastic glasses because I can geek out in them!  And the best thing is that they protect my eyes from the strong sun.  HIT!

2.  Daiso Detergent For Puff And Sponge

I bought this to wash my make-up brushes and sponges after reading about it on Roseanne’s blog and she’s right – it’s fab!  Made my brushes squeaky clean!  (Oooh, a quick Google search reveals that it’s a highly sought-after Daiso item to clean make-up brushes by plenty of beauty bloggers!!  Get in quick!)  HIT!

3.  Daiso Cosmetic Brush

For $2.80, don’t expect a premium quality brush.  The bristles are quite firm and scratchy against my face…but I’ve been using it to dab on blusher / bronzer on my cheeks and then using my usual blusher brush to blend it in.  What is the point in that extra step???  Good question!!!  I just realised the stupidity of it while typing this!!  LOL.  MISS!

Daiso lipstick swatch, pink lipstick

4.  Daiso Lipstick in L-3

Surely, I cannot be the only one who gets annoyed with beauty brands who give letters/numbers for a product.  Name it already!!!  Anyway, L-3 is a bright fuchsia pink lipstick which I bought to go with the pink corset I got recently.  Didn’t like the corset, but I like the lippy.  The packaging is made for grannies and there is a faint chemical scent, but ignore all that and get pretty pink lips!  Worn it a few times now and it doesn’t dry out my lips but it needs touching up all the time.  Definitely going to get my paws on more lippies from Daiso!  HIT!

double eyelid glue review, Daiso

5.  Daiso Double Eyelid Glue

As you all know, I have a right hooded eyelid which is getting worse every day.  The eyelid tape I used didn’t really work.  SIGH!  So when I saw Double Eyelid Glue, I thought I’d give it a try….and as you can see, don’t bother!!!  I nearly poked my eye out with the plastic fork thingy…and then the glue got all over my lids and there was lots of gooey stuff everywhere.  GAH!!!  Yes, I did get rid of my hooded eyelid because I ended up with a pink swollen lid from all the mess!  MISS!

Five beauty items for less than $15 – BARGAIN!

Have you shopped at Daiso before?  What did you buy?

@domncroxd, It was nasty! I’ll just have to get eyelid surgery if I want double eyelids 😛

Definitely going to check my Daiso for that detergent now.. haha thanks ^^ Ahh, if you want to try the eyelid glue.. I’d recommend trying out the Koji Eyetalk one! It dries a lot faster and isn’t as crappy as the Daiso one (i own the exact same Daiso one too.. and it’s so super.. crappy >_>)

@Jennifer Huang, Yes, the detergent is super awesome although it is a small bottle. And eeks, I am scared of eyelid glue so I won’t be trying anymore for a while! Thanks anyway, lovely x

@emmabovary, Isn’t Daiso amazing?! And ooh, I have been eyeing up their palettes too but didn’t purchase any…also, their nail polishes have cute colours… Hmm…in the name of beauty blogging research, I believe another haul at Daiso is called for 😛

That lipstick looks gorgeous on your lips! I’ve picked up a couple of eyeshadow palettes and a couple of nail polish bottles from Daiso – I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet.

Can’t wait to see how the nail polishes look. They are usually sold out when I go there!

Ling you look adorable in those glasses! =) Geek chic at its best! I can’t believe you gave that double eyelid glue thingy a go! That ‘plastic fork’ just freaks me out at the thought of you poking your eyelid with it. :s I hope your eye’s okay now! =)

I love Daiso (and Tokuya too)! Although I have had a few misses but it’s only $2.80 so it’s okay. My favourite purchases have been: cute bento boxes, blonde eyebrow pencil (why are these so hard to find?), lipgloss, pens, stationary and lunch bags. The worst thing I bought was a blush/highlighter, which was very chalky 🙁

@Hannah, All Japanese cheapy stores are awesome!!! Except I did get a yukky mascara once from Daiso – it stank so bad!!!!
