If you haven’t heard of OPI Black Shatter, then where the heck have you been?  The beauty blogosphere has been raving about this awesome newbie to the OPI collection.  OPI Black Shatter is a black top-coat that shatters as it dries, producing a unique leopard-print effect on your nails.

OPI Black Shatter, the best shade to apply

Here’s how I used OPI Black Shatter :-

rainbow nails

I chose bright colours to paint my nails with and then waited for them to dry. From left to right : OPI Rising Star, Nicole by OPI I’ve Got The Power, Primark nail polish in lilac and MUA green nail polish shade 13

And then, I painted a layer of OPI Black Shatter over my nails.

Please note that you have to be pretty quick in doing this because the polish dries really quickly and can get a bit gunky.

Wait and watch in amazement as the polish starts to crackle and shatter.

Once dry, paint on a topcoat to have a glossier finish to your nails.  Which nail colour looks best with Black Shatter?  I can’t decide because they all look so cool!

OPI Black Shatter is the latest sensation in nail color, but gets yours quickly as this is a limited edition product.  I was so happy when I saw this at a random nail store in Melbourne city centre for $16AUD.

The next shatter polish to be released by OPI is the Silver Shatter.  Another product to add onto my wishlist!!

I saw this girl with holo/shimmery/metallic silver polish underneath her shatter nails – so gorgeous! That’s what got me hooked on the shatter trend

@coco, Maybe it’s an acquired taste. My sister-in-law thinks it’s too goth.

I think they all look great! I havent bought a Black Shatter yet as I’m waiting on some China Glaze Crackle polishes to turn up and I want to see what they look like first. Exciting!

I still have yet to check out Black Shatter. I hope OPI comes out with other nail polishes with different textures. That would be awesome!

@Fabuless Beauty, Yes, that would be awesome indeed! And to think, when I was 15 (that was many moons ago), I wore blue nail polish (this is waaaaaaaay before it became popular), I was accused of being a bad influence in church by the Pastor’s wife!!! And nowadays, it’s the norm to have coloured nail polish! LOL
