If you read Asian beauty blogs, you will most likely have already read the plentiful reviews of Cure Natural Aqua Gel. No it is not a new product, so why am I reviewing this today?? Well, it’s because I wanted to share the backstory on how I acquired this…
It was January 2013 and I was in Hong Kong with my parents and my sister Y. I was there (without Hubby) to officially attend my cousin’s wedding but it was unofficially, to get over the sadness I had been going through. Anyway, Etude House had recently opened up in Mong Kok and I was desperate to go there to shop, but being a geographic noob, I had no idea how to find this Korean beauty store. We had half an hour in Mong Kok and my Dad offered to take me. Except he got lost and took me up and down this street which sold pet animals. I remember my hormones were raging and I actually started crying (very mature, huh!). In the end, we had to leave Mong Kok and to “punish” my Dad (told ya I was mature!), I went to the nearest Watson’s (an Asian drugstore which can be found at every corner!) and splurged on everything I could grab and made my Dad pay. I remember he picked up the bottle of Cure Natural Aqua Gel at the checkout and said “Wah, gum gwai geh!” – wow, so expensive. I rolled my eyes because it was roughly around $200 HKD which is around $30 AUD. THAT is hardly even expensive – am I right or am I right? LOL. A couple of days later, he took me to Mong Kok again and this time, he correctly located Etude House and again, he paid for all the goodies I chose there 🙂 #spoiltprincesssyndrome
What is the point of that story? Well, it’s just that I miss my parents a lot (they live in Scotland) and I think it’s great how a beauty product can evoke memories. *smiles* Plus it is my Dad’s 62nd birthday today! He doesn’t read my blog but still, I just want to wish him a Happy Birthday! It isn’t easy being a father of 4 daughters and 3 sons, but he’s amazing and hardworking and caters to all our whims! And now, he has a grand-daughter Bunty to spoil too 🙂
Now that I’ve got that off my chest, let’s review this baby…
Cure Natural Aqua Gel is a gel-based exfoliant. Because it is gel with no beads or rough exfoliating bits, it is super LOVELY on sensitive skin. Whenever my skin is feeling a bit rough, I use this to exfoliate away the dead skin cells and it leaves my skin feeling soft and supple again. Some exfoliants can actually cause my skin to flake out even more, but this is not the case here. It is very gentle and not harsh AT ALL.
All you do is apply 2-3 pumps of this on dry cleansed skin and gently rub in circular motions till the gel dries up and it’s almost as if the dead skin is peeled off. Then wash off to reveal super soft skin. LOVE it!
Unfortunately, I have no idea where to repurchase this in Australia when I eventually finish this bottle. Maybe it’s an excuse for a trip to Asia?!! 🙂 Oh, yes please!
Do you have any backstories to any beauty products? I’d love to read them so leave me a comment if you have anything you want to share.
