L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water Solution in Australia

I’ve heard that L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution is making its way to Australia soon-ish, but meanwhile I got my cousin to buy me not one, but TWO bottles of this baby from Boots (UK drugstore mecca; Aussie equivalent is the beloved Priceline) when she came to Australia last October (yes, my review is nearly half a year late!).  I’m glad I got her to buy me TWO bottles because…(spoiler alert)…I love it a lot!

You may be thinking – Girl, it’s just a make-up remover!  What’s the big dealio?

Well, please allow me to waffle on and share my love…

L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

The reasons why I love L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution are :-

  • It is a make-up remover which does NOT STING MY EYES
  • It is a make-up remover which is UNSCENTED (not like “chemically unscented” but it’s like the smell of plain water which ummm…has no smell)
  • It is a make-up remover which does not leave my skin feeling all tight
  • It is a make-up remover which does not leave behind a film nor residue of make-up remover
  • It is a make-up remover which DOUBLES up as a cleanser and toner so I can just wipe of my make-up and go straight to moisturiser WITHOUT RINSING*

*Can I just say that BB (before baby), I would FEEL ALL KINDS OF WEIRD without cleansing my face even after using the other famous micellar water, Bioderma.  But nowadays, I am EXTREMELY (yes. it deserves capitals!) time-poor so I skip double cleansing…and yikes, I may have skipped moisturising my face on the odd nights too!  But I have NEVER gone to bed with make-up on!

L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

There are two things I dislike about L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution and that’s the packaging and the dispenser.

  • Rectangular packaging may look all chic but it’s just slightly bulky and non-ergonomic for my wrist – which is a bit wrecked from rocking a cranky baby to sleep.
  • And also the hole dispenser – it gushes out with too much product too quickly.

I know some girls don’t like using micellar water make-up removers because it doesn’t remove all kinds of make-up with one swipe, especially the waterproof mascaras and products with the long-lasting formulae.  But I have never ever found a make-up remover that does the “one swipe removes it all”.  Even with the infamous Shu Uemura Cleansing Oils which I LOVE (because I am biased and love everything Shu), sometimes I find that if not rinsed off properly around the eye area, it’s “Hello Milia!”.

L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution or Bioderma Crealine H2O

Anyway, before I finish my waffle review, it would not be right if I didn’t mention how L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution measured up against the other famous micellar water, Bioderma Crealine H2O.

I applied 3 make-up products to my thunder thigh :

  • Face Of Australia Big Volumising Lash Mascara** – gives me fat lashes
  • L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner** – great for a smudged out eyeliner look
  • Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Grandest Grape – an on-trend lip colour

(** denotes press sample sent for editorial consideration)

And using a cotton-ball soaked in each micellar water, I applied the same pressure and swiped once.

As you can see, there are still remnants of make-up left.  So I swiped again.

And this time, you can see that all the make-up is removed from the first column, but there is still a trace left for the second column.

Can you guess which is the winning product in my mini experiment?

Well, it was Bioderma Crealine H2O!!!

micellar water, micellar makeup remover, micellar australia

Secretly, I’m glad because I spent $30 on the Bioderma Crealine H2O (500ml) and only £4.99 (equivalent to around $8) on L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution (200ml) so it bloomin’ well better work better! 😛  Anyway, I know there is another drugstore micellar water in the Aussie market from Garnier – would have loved to use it in my experiment to see how it fares but I’m on Project 100 Pan so no new purchases for me at the mo.

Are you a fan of micellar water?  If so, which one?  And if not, what do you use to remove make-up instead?  Sometimes I even use the same baby wipes I use to wipe my baby’s bottom!  Not literally by the way!!!  I use a brand new wipe for me and a brand new wipe for her bottom 😛

  1. The only one I’ve ever tried is by Bioderma. I’ve heard mixed reviews of the new Garnier one. Apparently it’s great at removing makeup but someone says it does smell funny. Can’t justify buying that just to try because I still have the full HUGE bottle of Bioderma Crealine to go through!

  2. Maybe I am impatient but I find that these Micellar water struggle with taking waterproof makeup off. Yea, I probably don’t hold the cotton pad to my eye long enough. 😛

  3. Personally, for 30.00, I did not think it was that much better-big deal if I have to swipe just one more time? For 5.99- I wont mind using it properly, since I go thru a bottle once a month. But this was a fabulous review and I thank you!!!
