Another day, another foundation! Hello L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder! But this one’s extra special because a) it was a gift from the lovely Norlin over at Baubles, Bubbles & Bags when she went on her US trip and b) it’s apparently a dupe for the more expensive Armani Maestro Foundation which was on my wishlist.
However, please note that L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder is not yet released in Australia and it’s known as L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique Eau De Teint in UK…so who knows when and what it will be called when it is released in Australia…?!
Anyway, the first thing I did when I got my hands on L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder was to swatch it. You can imagine that it was slightly difficult for Norlin to buy this for me as we didn’t really know what shade I would be as she’s slightly darker than me (but what IS slightly??) and also, in the US, there were SO MANY SHADES to choose from. But whaddya know? #318 Natural Buff was a great shade match for my NC-25 to NC-30 skin…but it probably helps that this is an extremely thin and lightweight blendable foundation…
The packaging was a bit so-so for me. The palm-sized rectangular glass jar looks kinda cute and that, but then…
…unscrew the dinky lid and you find that you have to pour out the foundation. What does this mean for clumsy old me? It means I make a big mess!!! It’s hard to control how much liquid to pour out and I found that for the few times I have used this, I have excess wastage. Also, the screwy bit gets dried up foundation gunk. Gah!
Packaging aside, L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder is completely different to any other liquid foundation in my collection. According to L’Oreal Paris, this “transforms from liquid to powder for the perfect bare skin finish”.
As you can see, it is a very runny liquid which spreads and blends very easily with fingers alone. It makes my skin feel very silicone-smooth with no heavy powdery feeling at all – almost as if I’m not wearing any foundation at all. Armani Maestro Foundation fans will know the same feeling.
Do I like it? …ummm…yes… I hesitated for a moment because my skin has been undergoing some crazy hormonal changes lately so it isn’t at its prime where I can easily pull off a lightweight foundation. I need something with a bit more coverage to hide my multitude of sins. BUT because of hot summer days, I like something really light (definitely not BB cream) to let my skin breathe.
L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder is an ultra lightweight foundation which barely conceals any skin sins so you have to make sure that your skin is in tip top condition before using this if you’re looking for a flawless natural finish. If Armani Maestro worked for your skin, then keep an eye out for the Australian release of L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder as it is a more affordable everyday version.
On a totally unrelated note, check out my last photo – I am loving the new OPI 4 In The Morning black matte nail polish from the Gwen Stefani collaboration. Might try and do some nail polish swatches in the next few days but my family are against nail polish whilst pregnant *rolls my eyes* But not long to go now before baby pops out…are there any baby-safe nail polishes out there for me to paint on my baby girl’s nails?? Yes, she is gonna be a mini baby beauty blogger *hehe*
