A couple of months ago, my guy friend came to visit me.  He stopped over in Hong Kong and I knew I had to get him to bring over some Sasa goodies.  Unfortunately, he’s a guy so he doesn’t have a clue about beauty products so I sent a shopping list to my girl cousin and told her to go crazy and buy me the newest hot items in Sasa.  Amongst the haulage was SANA Pore Putty BB Cream, which I am going to review today.  SANA is a Japanese brand and that’s all I know about them.  As for those who don’t know what BB cream is, it’s short for Blemish Balm, and it’s basically like a tinted SPF moisturiser which has skin regenerating properties {wikipedia}.

What SANA Say

Amazing pore-concealing instantly! Poreless skin made like technique of putty effect! Natural beige color BB cream that instantly conceals pores, discoloration and unevenness. Base makeup is finished with just this item. Benefit of makeup base, foundation, concealer, essence and sunscreen in one. Sebum-absorbing powder formulated. Long-lasting moisturizing effect.

My Opinions

The formula of SANA Pore Putty BB Cream is lightweight and that’s the beauty of it.  It spreads on easily and doesn’t leave behind any residual tackiness.  As you can see, it does not cover up all my freckles as the coverage is sheer, but has a smooth finish.  As a natural daytime look, I am happy to wear SANA Pore Putty BB Cream on its own, especially as it has such high SPF – SPF 50+ apparently!  Another plus is that there is no scent.

However, if you have dry skin like me, SANA Pore Putty BB Cream will enhance flaking skin so it is essential to prep skin beforehand by exfoliating and priming skin.  It is not as moisturising as I would have liked it.

The yellowy-beige shade of the BB cream blends in well with my NC-30 skin, but may not be suitable for those who have fairer skin or pink undertones.

Lightweight formula which blends easily, SPF 50+, great shade for my skin, scentless

Not hydrating enough for my skin, enhances flaking skin

Overall, I like SANA Pore Putty BB Cream because of its lightweight, scentless formula and because it contains SPF 50+.  Although, the hunt for my Holy Grail BB cream continues.

Do you use BB creams?  Which one is your favourite?

  1. Hello Ling! I’m also on the lookout for the perfect BB Cream! All that I’ve tried are either too dark or too yellow for me =( But thank you for reviewing this! I was actually tempted to give this one a go next but now that you mention it enhances flaky skin I think it’s best I drop this from my shopping list! 😉

  2. I don’t use BB cream. Choice is too big for me and I don’t know which I should buy for my skin….

  3. I used to use Bobbi’s tinted moisturing balm. Loved it initially. But later find it too oily even for my dry skin! So ditched it for Bobbi’s skin-like foundation and now onto Bare Mineral’s sheer foundation. Love it!

    • @HC, Oooh, Bare Mineral’s sounds good. I have dry skin too so I need something very hydrating. Don’t think we can get Bare Mineral’s over here though…
