I, Ling, beauty blogger of The Best Beauty Blog for over 4 years, have a beauty confession to share…
…I stopped applying sunscreen daily.
Yep, I got lazy!
At first, I blamed it on the baby – “Oh, I’m too busy!” / “There’s no time!” / “She’s my priority now!”
But seriously, it’s the beauty sin you should never commit.
As part of their Sun Summer Resolution Campaign, NIVEA recently created this video to highlight the importance of sun protection. Australians were invited to take a look at themselves through an ultraviolet camera. It was such an eye-opening experience to see the areas of their skin which had been damaged by the sun.
If that doesn’t get you slapping on the sunscreen, I don’t know what will!
Here are 4 essential pieces of advice regarding sunscreen :-
1. Sunscreen should be applied daily, not just when it’s sunny outside, because it is still possible to get sunburnt on windy, cloudy or cool days. Sunburn is caused by UV radiation which is not related to temperature.
2. Sunscreen needs time to kick in. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going out and reapply every 2 hours thereafter.
3. Be generous. A capful (35ml) of sunscreen is the minimum amount required to cover face and body.
4. Go high. The higher the SPF, the longer it can protect you – but you will still need to reapply.
Don’t forget to always read the label and use only as directed.
Guess what I’m going to do now?
Yep, I’m going to apply sunscreen. Not only on myself, but also for the rest of my little family too – from hubs to bubs!
And so should you! Protect yourself from the sun before it’s too late!
