This is an exciting week ahead for me!!! My parents and my second sister are arriving on Thursday morning! YAY! Anyway, speaking of YAY! stuff, the Australis Powers-That-Be have been very kind and generous to me. They’ve been sending me surprise packages (*squee*) and inside one of them were two nail polishes – Australis Blackmail and Australis Speck-tacular Crystal Colour Top Coat – and a glittery bouncy ball which lights up when bounced.
Even though my nail polish collection is expanding nicely, I haven’t actually got a pure black polish so I was happy to see Australis Blackmail – which applies beautifully with 2 coats for a nice creme finish. But it’s the Australis Speck-tacular Crystal Colour Top Coat which has got me drooling!!! I’m not a nail beauty blogger, but I’m told that it’s a “holo flakie”. I am guessing it means that it has holographic flakes…? It is stunning layered on top of the black.
I’ve seen these Australis nail polishes in my local Priceline and they’re both under $10. Yay! Bargain!!
Many thanks to the Australis team for gifting me with these beauties. It’s lovely getting surprise packages…and I’ll show you more from them soon.
Are you a holo flakie fan?
Wowee!!! I’m back!!! Thanks for all the lovely supportive comments and tweets over the last few stressful days about server issues. As I mentioned before, I lost GAZILLIONS of unpublished posts which sucks…so I need to get a few days to organise myself but meanwhile, enjoy this FOTD with Australis products!
Australis is another Australian drugstore make-up brand that I love. You may remember I hauled a few things a while ago plus reviewed a couple of products before. Well, at ABBW, Australis generously gifted us with more goodies to play with so I dug out all my Australis cosmetic products and created a FOTD – aptly named Love Australis.
Australis Products Used & Mini Reviews
Australis Paparazzi Perfect HD Tinted Moisturiser in Medium-Dark – This is the first tinted moisturiser I have ever used. I was scared of them before because I was worried about shade match, but this one is perfect on me and creates a flawless finish. LOVE!
Australis Liquid Concealer Pen – Reviewed previously and it’s used up already!! On the hunt for a new concealer…
Australis Paparazzi Perfect HD Blush in Shoot To Thrill – Pink rosy cheeks, but nothing special.
Australis Make-Up Finishing Spritz – Refreshing mist to finish off make-up and make it last all day.
Australis Eyeshadow Primer – Unfortunately, not one of my favourites because it is not quite UDPP (which you can win in my giveaway!) and it runs out pretty quickly. I do like the pink packaging though.
Australis Paparazzi Perfect HD Eyeshadow in Snap Attack – As you all know, I am a colour fan so the neutral shades here are a bit tame for me. Nevertheless, I am learning to embrace my beige and browns these days.
Australis IntensifEYE Liquid Eyeliner – I reviewed it previously so check it out if you want a detailed review.
Australis Trial Team Mascara – As a trial team member, I got sent this mascara so I cannot say whether it’s part of their range which is being sold at the moment. But I liked how it separated and lengthened my lashes; but not enough oomph for my short stubby Asian lashes though.
Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Jitterbug – *squee* This is totally the shade I wanted to buy when I did my Australis haul but they had ran out so I was delighted to see this in the ABBW goodie bag! LOVE!
Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lip Gloss in Bollywood – Beautiful as reviewed before. LOVE!
Australis Nail Colour in Valentine – One coat wonder! LOVE!
Australis eyeshadow brushes which were a GWP
Have you used Australis products before? And most importantly, are you loving my FOTD?
I’ve been procrastinating and I have somehow developed writer’s block… I just can’t seem the get the right words out to describe the epic weekend which was ABBW. Instead, I have filmed a make-up tutorial entitled Urban Purple Look. Yes, I know I am no make-up guru but it’s a learning process so please check out my video (complete with a Chinese soundtrack!…and laugh at me if you must at the end! You’ll see…

Never ever turn up your nose at the bargain bins in drugstores! There may be lots of crappy products in there, but once in a while, you’ll find a hidden gem…at el cheapo prices!! I found this $2 Australis Colour Max lipstick and when I first put it on, my Husband complimented my lippy shade!!! Now that has never happened before and it has not happened again. In fact, he dislikes my love for red lipsticks – sigh!
Ling’s Linky Party : Here’s your chance to participate and show us a product you love which you found in the Bargain Bin.
If you have a blog, do a blog post and link back using the cool linky tool below.

Following on from the Cute Colour Block nails from Monday, today I give you colour blocking make-up which is a recent trend and I love it! Loud, bold colours are right up my street. And the best thing is that I can just slap on the one colour on the lid and another on the lower lash line. No need for blending with base shades, accent colours and whatnot.
Phew! What a long blog post title!!! Anyway, I’m really excited today to introduce to you two luscious lip glosses from Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lip Gloss range – Bollywood (which was purchased by yours truly) and Disco (which was sent for consideration).
Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lip Gloss : Bollywood and Disco Swatches
Out of the two, Bollywood is my favourite. It is a sheer red creme. This is ideal for girls who are venturing into red lips for the first time but are worried about it being too full-on. Putting this on instantly brightens up my face as it adds a nice splash of colour.
Disco is described as a sheer orange, almost clear finish. Confusing because I see no orange in it at all. To me, it’s more of a pastel pink and it’s definitely not clear on my lips! Ideal for all occasions. My Hubby likes it when I wear this.
I was really impressed with these Australis lip glosses not just because they looked great on my lips but also because of their nourishing ingredients.
Vitamin E: Powerful antioxidant, moisturises and enhances skin smoothness
UV filters: Absorb, reflect, scatter and block ultraviolet radiation
Peptides: Stimulate cells to produce collagen. Smoothing, defining and moisturising qualities
Kakadu plum: Contains vitamin C aiding in the formation of collagen. Soothing and antiseptic properties
Jojoba oil: moisturising and skin protecting
Evening primrose oil: rich in Omega 6, smoothing and moisturising
Avocado oil: emollient, smooth application
- Mica: provides a natural luminosity and soft silky feel
- Titanium dioxide: Good covering power and natural sun protection
For full ingredient list and more product information, please check Australis website.
What I Look For In A Lip Gloss
1. Affordability – let’s not wipe out all my savings with one beauty product please!
2. Colour – must look good in the tube and must look good on my lips
3. Non-sticky formula – nothing annoys me more than sticky glosses which attract my hair
4. Smell and taste – Despise overpowering or bad chemical smells and tastes
5. Ease of application – I like doe foot applicators. Finger dipping lip glosses are a big no-no for me.
Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lip Gloss ticks all these boxes. The RRP is $11.95 so it won’t break the bank…if you only buy one…but you may be tempted to buy more than one as there are 10 sexy shades to choose from. I am happy with the non-sticky formula and the lychee flavour of the lip gloss makes me want to lick my lips!! The applicator is more big foot than doe foot but I’ll let that one go. But best of all, it actually makes my lips look good and feel good with its nourishing properties. A big win all around!
The only sad thing is that Australis is only available in Australia. A big BOO-HOO to any international readers….BUT before you run off crying, I have fantastic news for you all. The lovely Sara-May has been doing a FOTD Challenge on her beauty blog and all of the looks she has created has been amazing. A number of other beauty bloggers have participated in this too. Today’s FOTD Challenge is Cleopatra – it was my suggestion so it is only right that I participate, although I did struggle with it. I kept jabbing my eye!!! I’ll never be a make-up artist but it’s still fun to play with make-up!
Here’s my take on Cleopatra :-
When I think of Cleopatra, I think of strong brows, bold eyes with thick black eyeliner, sculpted cheeks and red lips.
The eyelashes are from KKCenterHK – EYE’S CHIC 816 Bird Of Paradise Fake Eyelashes*^. The inner half is criss-cross and the outer half is outrageously long. They are pretty cool but not suitable for everyday use.
