Wedding Bells Outfit Of The Day & Make-Up

Last weekend, my friends J and J got married.  Mrs J looked stunning.  I had a fantastic time and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had used our personalised wedding vows for their vows!  Word for word!!  I had tissues ready but I didn’t cry.  And the reception food was good and I got tipsy after drinking a glass of white wine!

Prior to the wedding, Mrs J had asked me for some beauty advice and my best tip was to get flawless skin – which is not an easy feat!!  For my wedding, I prepped my skin 7 days before the wedding with Babor Express Relief Fluid – and my skin was glowing.  I also recommended Bioeffect EGF Serum and Alpha-H products leading up to the wedding…  Turns out Mrs J’s skin broke out from using Bioeffect…and she ordered a stack of Alpha-H but never got round to using it – but Babor saved the day!!  (I felt awful that Mrs J’s skin broke out from using Bioeffect…but my skin loves it!  I started using it again 4 days before the wedding on Saturday and sure enough, my skin plumped out and had that lovely glow…and in fact, I’m still using it this week because I can’t get enough of it.)

OOTD : Outfit Of The Day

My Husband and I had a last minute panic attack on Friday night.  Both of us have put on a lot of weight since getting married last year so he couldn’t fit into his suit and threatened to wear jeans!  But in the end, he found a semi-formal pair of trousers (or pants, like the Aussies call them) and a shirt.  I thought he looked like a bus driver!

For my outfit, I wore a red one-shouldered dress from Review.  I bought it last year when I was much skinnier…thank God I managed to squeeze into it.  I had to suck my belly in the whole day!!!  And I wore my nude patent peeptoes from Tony Bianco.

FOTD : Face Of The Day

For my hair and make-up, I used a LOT of products :

Hair
Washed with muk products* the night before.  Created volume with VS Sassoon Big Hair Root Boost* and straightened with ghd’s and smoothed tips with Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil*.

Face

Eyes

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion Greed* – Primes oily eyelids and adds that extra shimmer under eyeshadows
  • FACE OF AUSTRALIA Colour Max Eyeshadow Palette Gold Mine* – Used matte brown shade for brows.
  • Mirenesse Pearl Crush Creaseless Shadows in Conch Pearls* – A subtle gunmetal grey smokey eye
  • Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner – My first time using this and I was so disappointed because the 0.1mm tip is too fine and hard to control!  But I will learn to master it!
  • Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara* – Rose-scented mascara which lengthens.  Love! (Full review)
  • Note : I forgot to conceal my dark circles under eyes!  FAIL!

Lips

  • Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip-Fix Cream – Been using this as a lip primer…but undecided about how I feel about it.  I purchased it at a fab price and free shipping from here but it took 4 weeks to deliver though…)
  • Savvy by DB Lip Liner Poppy – I ALWAYS line my lips and shade it in if I wear red lippy.  ALWAYS!
  • CoverGirl TruShine Lipstick in 500 Cranberry – One of my favourite reds…but it’s discontinued!!  WHY?!!
  • Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss in Eric* – LOVE!  (Full review and swatch)

This blog post is dedicated to the newlyweds and I wish them a loving life-long marriage full of joy, laughter, love and babies!

What did you wear to the last wedding you attended?

Ombré Nails

Ombré hair which features dark to light colour is extremely trendy at the moment.  Yours truly is not as trendy in the hair department, but I played around with some nail colours and came up with my takes on ombré nails – pink, blue and purple.

Pink Ombré Nails

Featuring Bourjois So Laque! Rose Lounge (yes, the one worn by Kate Middleton on her wedding day – which I wore on MY wedding day which was way before hers so I am indeed a trend-setter LOL), FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Nail Enamel Cotton Candy*, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Nail Enamel Beauty Queen, Sally Hansen HD Digital and CoverGirl Continuous Color Midnight Mauve.

Pink ombré nails are right up my street!!!  Massive love for this!  But I am biased because pink is my favourite colour.

Blue Ombré Nails

Featuring Nicole by OPI Diva Into The Pool*, Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish Azure, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Nail Enamel Ocean Villa*, China Glaze First Mate* and MUA Shade 1.

Ooooh, blue ombré nails turned out really well.  Sounds silly but it reminds me of the sea and crashing waves.  See, told you it was silly!!

Purple Ombré Nails

Featuring Primark Nail Polish Lilac, Mode Cosmetics Midsummer Dream, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Molten Metallics Amethyst*, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Private Jet* and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Pat On The Black.

My purple ombré nails need a bit of tweaking methinks.  Not too happy with the poor quality lilac polish I own.  Reminds me of Autumn for some reason.

Which one is your favourite ombré nails – pink, blue or purple?

Treat Myself Mini Haul

On Friday, I got my period so I was in the mood to treat myself so I did!

I was in the mood for a magazine, but my usual favourite celebrity gossip magazines did not appeal to me.  Instead, I went for madison magazine which had a freebie – a hardback notebook.  Natalie Portman is gorgeous!

With the colder temperatures in Melbourne, I knew that these cotton colourful stripy tights from Target would be ideal.  There was a 20% discount on hosiery so I only paid $8.

I’ve been really impressed with my new favourite Aussie beauty brand, FACE OF AUSTRALIA so I bought their nail polish remover to test out and review later.

Nail glue is essential for me.  I have weak nails which split all the time.

CoverGirl celebrated their 50th year anniversary last week so Priceline are doing a special 50% off all CoverGirl items.  I couldn’t resist and bought an Outlast Lipstain – will swatch and review later.

I was actually keen to treat myself to a few more items :-

  • The newly launched Clinique Chubby Stick – but I was ignored at the Clinique counter in David Jones at Westfield Doncaster Shoppingtown.
  • Something MAC in the new MAC counter at Myer in Doncaster Shoppingtown – but I was totally blanked by the MAC assistants.  What’s new?
  • A gorgeous Coco Rouge Shine lipstick – but I couldn’t decide between Boy and Rebelle.

I was really disappointed with the customer service at both David Jones and Myer department stores – but, Heather, the assistant at Elizabeth Arden at David Jones was amazing.  I will blog about her later because I think she deserves to star in her own post.

Did you treat yourself to anything nice recently?
