This week’s Beauty Bites is mostly short sweet morsels of beauty products I have been trialling. But first up, allow me to show you what happens behind the scenes…

Behind the Scenes of Beauty Blogging : Unfortunately, my beauty guinea pig blogging role is very unglamorous. I’m usually in my pyjamas with my geeky glasses on and a box of products waiting to be photographed then swatched then trialled and then blogged. Baby wipes are a must to remove fingerprints and dust from a product before photographing and to also wipe away swatches on my arm.

FACE OF AUSTRALIA Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons : These cute little lip crayons are the bomb dot com. Get yours quick as they are limited edition ($14.95 at fashionaddict.com.au). To see what they look like on my lips, you know where to go – LipStalker.com - yes, I finally updated it today

Skincare Goodies From Comvita* : With Winter playing havoc on my skin and causing a big flake-out, I have been using Comvita Olive White Brightening Facial Exfoliant ($36 at comvita.com.au) to gently remove the flakies and replenish much-needed moisture with Comvita Intensive Hydrating Mask ($50 at comvita.com.au). Last week, I went a bit overzealous with scrubbing my face with the exfoliant though and caused a little dry sore patch just under my right eye. So I put on a thick dollop of the hydrating mask and went to sleep and the next day, my skin was all lovely again.

Kuu Konjac Sponge* : OMG! My showers have not been the same now that this red Kuu Konjac Sponge ($7.95 at kuukonjac.com.au) has earned a place in there! It’s supersoft, spongy goodness to lightly exfoliate me from head to toe. In fact, I caught my Husband ditching his shower puff and “borrowing” my sponge ball. No way José! I’m off to buy him his own Kuu Konjac Sponge so he can stop using mine! There are a few types depending on your skin. I’m using the red one which is for dry, sensitive and mature – hey, are you calling me old?! skin

John Plunkett Advanced Instant Wrinkle Filler* : My birthday is next month and it has sent me into mini panic mode as I am worried that the Wrinkle Fairy will visit me. I do have fine lines which I have been trying to conceal with this Instant Wrinkle Filler ($34.95 at pharmacyonline.com.au). It’s loaded with silicone so it does a temporary job at smoothing out unwanted finest of fine lines. But for anything deeper than that, i.e. a wrinkle, it’s just not gonna work. Le sigh.
Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this week’s Beauty Bites. Any products marked with * were press samples. And in high demand are my dental-related posts so I will try and get one posted soon so stay tuned!

Orange you glad to see me? Because I am glad to see you!! Yes, you, my dear readers. My daily blogging life was interrupted by the arrival of a few family members (jeez guys, dontcha know I’m busy!) and for the last 2-3 weeks, I have actually had a social life (unbelievable, but true!) and some personal life matters got in the way so I have had little or no time to sit in front of my beloved MacBook. Anyway, I think I’m back and what better than to kickstart my return with a fantastic nail polish from FACE OF AUSTRALIA’s new Barbados collection – Orange You Glad You Came?
I was utterly speechless when I applied this citrus shade because the formula and the brush was faultless. FAULTLESS!!! After two coats of FOA’s Orange You Glad You Came?, I stood back and looked at it with my left hand held out and gasped in astonishment. The shade is just stunning! STUNNING! The golden microshimmer flirts so well with the warm orange base. It’s such a sassy, sexy and superb shade that I experienced my first ever nailgasm!
FACE OF AUSTRALIA Orange You Glad You Came? In the words of Sally from When Harry Met Sally, “Yes, yes, YESSSSSS!!!”

Happy Valentine’s Day lovelies! Valentine’s Day is for everyone – whether they are single or attached. It’s a day to celebrate love with anyone or anything! I celebrated love by eating ice cream (Connoisseur Cafe Grande) for breakfast! And here’s my Be My Valentine Nail Manicure featuring FACE OF AUSTRALIA Bright Lights, Pink City from the Barbados collection and OPI Excuse Moi! from the Muppets collection.

Their story goes like this…
Fed up of life in the country, Miss FOA decided to go travelling on her own. She wanted to see the world and ended up in Bright Lights, Pink City. Every morning, she loved to go to this particular spot to admire the view…but today, this favourite place of hers was flooded with loved-up couples making out…yep, you guessed it, it was indeed Valentine’s Day. Miss FOA was happy being single but didn’t like seeing PDA (that’s Public Display of Affection, btw) rubbed in her face. As she hurried off, she bumped into someone.
“Oops sorry!”
“Oh, Excuse Moi!”
And somehow, they struck up a conversation and they rolled their eyes at the kiss-wissy couples.
“Are you doing anything tonight?”
“No…what do you have in mind?”
“Let’s get outta here! Let’s go to Barbados to watch the Muppet show!”
And that’s the story of how Miss FOA became best friends with Miss OPI. No, they didn’t need any guys in their lives. No, not this year. They were happy to spend V Day with each other where there was love…like a sisterly kind of love.

Ahem…don’t think this particular love story will be made into a blockbuster movie. But let’s give a round of applause to the gorgeous FACE OF AUSTRALIA Barbados Bright Lights, Pink City – a beautiful warm baby pink with a delicate orange microshimmer – accented by OPI Excuse Moi! – a pink glitter-fest of love!
