5 Awesome Things You Will Love About Garnier Miracle Sleeping Cream

garnier miracle sleeping cream

I’ve been a big fan of sleeping masks waaaay before they were the “in” thing.  In fact, one of my first few blog posts { with terrrrible photos and terrrible writing – thankfully I’ve improved since then! } was reviewing that Korean sleeping mask which started it all.

Garnier recently launched their version called the Miracle Sleeping Cream which you can use like a night cream.  I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s a winner.  Here are 5 awesome things that you { & I already do! } will love about it :-

Barely There Make-Up Look

FOTD blog, no make-up make-up

Something weird is happening to me!!  I’m usually a big fan of bright boomtastic colours whether it be on my eyes, lips, cheeks or all 3 at once (drag queen alert!) – but I’ve turned!!!  I’ve started toning down my bright colours and embracing neutrals!!!  It’s scary!  I wonder if age is catching up because I have started appreciating the colour “brown” in make-up!!!

Anyway, whilst I ponder the ageing process, have a peek at this barely-there make-up look I have been loving…

I must say that my skin looks rather good here…and my eye has a twinkle (without the use of any coloured contact lenses BTW).  I think it must have been good lighting for “taking-photos-of-yourself” day.

Even for a barely there make-up look, I still happened to use 10 items of make-up!!!

Breakdown Of Products Used

Garnier BB Cream, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Gold Mine Quad

FACE

Garnier BB Cream in Light & Medium :  When I use Garnier BB Cream, I skip face primer because this is a lovely cream which glides on easily.  I’ve blogged about this before {link} – I mix equal quantities of both which creates the perfect shade for my NC-30 skin.  It’s great at creating a lovely radiant glow in real life…but in photos, it can look as if your skin is greasy…but that’s why you need the next product which is…

bareMinerals Mineral Veil :   Finishing powders set make-up  but also prevent unwanted shine and this one is light and seamless on me.

FACE OF AUSTRALIA Mineral Therapy Bronzing Pearls :  Fantastic product to create sculpted cheekbones.  When I use this, I skip blusher because this is sufficient.  LOVE it!

EYES

bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Face in Bisque :  It’s a concealer in mineral powder form.  I’ve been using this for a while but it’s just not quite there with its concealing powers for my undereye dark circles; but it blends beautifully.

FACE OF AUSTRALIA Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Mine :  All the colours complement each other and it’s not full of crazy shimmer.  I use the matte dark brown shade for my brows.

Smashbox Girls On Film Cream Eyeliner Travel Set in Sepia :  As blogged previously {link}

Jordana Pencil Eyeliner in Black :  The only black pencil eyeliner that can be used on my waterline without smudging like crazy.

Australis mascara :  I was sent this as part of a Trial Team.  I have somehow lost all my other mascaras!!!

LIPS

Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra-Hydrating Lip Balm in Clear :  Reviewed here {link} and I love it muchly.

Ciccone Cosmetics Lipstick in Oceanus :  This is the one I reach for out of the entire collection which I blogged about before {link}

So whaddya think?  Feel free to shower me with many compliments so that my head will swell up and I will love you all forever!

Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover

I found this post I wrote when I first started beauty blogging a year ago but it got put into the Drafts folder and never got published…till today… *smiles*  Back then, I was trying to follow a rigid formula to write product reviews and it was boring!  Nowadays, I just write whatever pops into my mind…and it’s probably still boring, but at least, I have a unique voice!  Anyway, here it is, in its unedited glory…with very small pics…!!

Removing all your eye make-up before going to sleep is vital so that your skin can breathe and regenerate.  My ideal eye make-up remover is affordable, gentle to my eyes and the delicate eye area and extremely simple and effective to use.  After using up my previous eye make-up remover, Simple Kind To Eyes, I went and bought a new one to try out – Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover.

Drew an eye with eyeliner, painted on eyeshadow and put on some smudged mascara.  Soaked a cotton pad with Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover and placed it on the area for a few seconds.  Required two wipes to remove all make-up.

My Opinions

  • Likes : relatively quick and easy to use, affordable, doesn’t sting eyes
  • Dislikes : contains fragrance

Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover gets a 7 out of 10 for me…but I am still on the hunt for my ideal eye make-up remover.  Any suggestions?

Australia BB Cream Reviews

At the time of writing, Australia has welcomed 2 BB creams into the market – Biotherm White D-Tox Translu.Cell BB Cream SPF 25 and Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One BB Cream.  (For ease of writing, I shall refer to them as Biotherm and Garnier BB Creams instead of their long-winded names!)  I have been a big fan of BB creams for a long long time so I was delighted when I got my hands on both BB creams to test out.  (FYI, I got a free sample and I won a giveaway.)

What Is BB Cream?

BB cream is short for blemish balm and originates from Germany, even though it is highly popular in Asia.  It claims to heal skin and prevents wrinkles from its SPF content.  It’s not a tinted moisturiser because it is much thicker in texture.  I’ve been using BB creams for years now and I don’t see any healing on my scars, but I like Asian BB creams because it gives great coverage with high SPF and the shades can be a bit off but they blend very well.

Difference Between Asian BB Creams And The Aussie BB Creams

I think it’s important to establish that they are different.  Aussie BB Creams are thinner in texture, contain less SPF and more creamy than balmy.  I don’t know if that makes sense but it makes sense to me!  But saying that, I’m really loving the Australian BB creams!!  Let’s check them out…

Australia BB Cream

Biotherm BB Cream

Admittedly, I only have tiny samples of this – but a little goes a long way!  The shade is definitely too white on my skin but it blends out really well and keeps my face moisturised and shine-free.  In fact, I took one of these samples and used it at the ABBW and I used it for 3 days straight with no problems at all.  But I’ll be honest and say that I won’t repurchase unless there is a shade closer to my NC-30 skin.

Available from Adore Beauty for $49 AUD.

Garnier BB Cream

This product has been getting rave reviews from all over!  And I can see why!  It smells great, provides fantastic flawless coverage and requires little effort in blending because it glides on smoothly.  It’s closer to a tinted moisturiser than the Asian BB creams.

It comes in 2 shades – Light and Medium – but that’s the problem.  I am neither Light nor Medium – but thank God I won both of these from a giveaway because when mixed together, it is a perfect shade match!  In fact, I used it this morning to go to the hairdressers and I thought my skin looked really good seeing as I had to look at myself in the mirror for 2.5 hours at the salon.  The only downside is the lack of SPF with its measly 15 rating.  Pah!  If only Australian BB creams had extra oomph in SPF like the Asian BB creams.  Nevertheless, I can see myself repurchasing these highly affordable drugstore BB creams.

Available in drugstores and supermarkets around $15 AUD.
