Coral-icious Make-Up

Coralicious Make-Up

First of all, I just want to say another big THANK YOU to everyone who left me lovely messages after hearing of our awesome news in my last post!!!  I can’t stop smiling!  And to top it off…does anyone remember I had that work-related stress issue?  Well, I got good news yesterday and that has been resolved too!  *pops open non-alcoholic champagne*

Anyway, a few weeks ago I was feeling bit under the weather with so many stressful things on my mind…so what better way to brighten up my day than take photos of pretty make-up with pretty colours?!  So I gathered a number of coral coloured goodies and went all paparazzi on them – very CORAL-ICIOUS!!!

Illamasqua, Illamasqua Generation Q collection, Illamasqua Empower Palette

I would like to begin this post by saying 3 things about Illamasqua :-

1.  Illamasqua, we salute you!!!!!  Thank you for your recent campaign to fight for a fair beauty price in Australia!  You have led the way by forever reducing your prices and word on the street is that other premium beauty brands are following suit.  Woop woop!

2.  In case you didn’t know, Illamasqua are a British beauty brand and I, myself, am a British born Asian – so basically, us Brits are awesome!  Woop woop!

3.  Hello Generation Q!!!  You had us at Hello!!

Illamasqua Neutral Palette : My Current Favourite Eyeshadow Quad!

Illamasqua Neutral Palette, Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism, Illamasqua eyeshadows

When Illamasqua launched their Human Fundamentalism Collection, I was rather surprised to see a Neutral Palette eyeshadow quad there.  For me, Illamasqua is known for their crazy bold colours which are in your face, so to speak, and having a Neutral Palette seemed rather tame for them.

However, after receiving Illamasqua Neutral Palette in the mail, I was able to have a better look at it and play around with the shades and then, I realised that there’s more to this Neutral Palette than meets the eye.

Illamasqua swatches

The four eyeshadows in Illamasqua Neutral Palette are Stealth (matte milky), Vintage (antique bronzey-gold), Wolf (matte cocoa brown) and Obsidian (matte coal black).  All are strongly pigmented and blend very well.

In skilled hands, the shades can be used to create sculpted highlights and stark contours anywhere on the face and body.  The shades can be mixed up to create drama and glamour.  And in amateur hands like mine, I can use it for everyday looks.

Illamasqua Neutral Palette has received more love from me than my Urban Decay Naked2 Palette and that is saying something!

What is your current favourite eyeshadow quad?

Nail Romance : Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Stance

Illamasqua purple nail polish, Illamasqua Stance swatches, Illamasqua Nail Varnish swatches, Human Fundamentalism Collection

Feast your eyes upon the gorgeousness that is Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Stance from The Human Fundamentalism Collection.  I was blessed to get sent this for review.

Compared to the other Illamasqua purple nail polish, Faux Pas, in my collection, Stance is a brighter and shinier fuchsia purple.  It’s a great colour to brighten up the miserable cold and wet Winter days we have been experiencing on and off in Melbourne.

The formula of Illamasqua Nail Varnishes are pretty impressive as they are quick-drying and streak-free.  But I did need 2 thin coats of Stance to get opaque coverage.  I am also eyeing another Illamasqua Nail Varnish in The Human Fundamentalism collection – Nomad.  The colour is to die for!  See Tine’s swatch.

Are you an Illamasqua fan?  What colours do you wear on your nails in Winter?

Beauty Bites Featuring Rimmel London, Oscar Oscar Salon, Illamasqua, Kate Middleton & Braids!

As you may already know, my life has been consumed by my 4-day working week so daily beauty blog posts are a thing of the past.  Hopefully, I can find the right balance soon to summon my inner energetic goddess and learn how to blog and work together like birds of a feather.  Meanwhile, I present to you a new series called Beauty Bites with short and sweet morsels of beauty goodness to tickle your fancy.  (Sorry, I have been reading Fifty Shades of Grey so the vocab has rubbed off on me…rubbed…oo-er! :P)

Rimmel eyeshadows, Rimmel Glam Eyes HD quads

Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD : Yes, they are very pretty to look at with their Union Jack patterns…as for practicality with those tiny triangles and shapes of eyeshadow, well…it’s like using an iPhone to type an 5000-word essay…it gets rather annoying especially if you have clumsy fingers which go everywhere!  (I don’t even know if this metaphor makes sense!  Yup, I have definitely been infected by the Fifty Shade Of Grey author, EL James!!  Read 50shadeofsuck.tumblr.com and you’ll get what I mean!)

Katniss braid

Katniss Braid : I read The Hunger Games trilogy and I got inspired to braid my hair because apparently Katniss wears a braid.  I was very much Team Peeta…until I watched the movie and realised that the Peeta actor has funny teeth so I was verging on Team Gale…but then I realised that in real life, he shacks up with Miley Cyrus… and need I say more?

Fishtail Braid :  Speaking of braids, the MBBE (Melbourne beauty bloggers) got shown how to do all types of braids at an Oscar Oscar Salon event in their Chadstone salon.  Hair belongs to Tina (who is leaving for Taiwan soon – noooo!!!), hands belong to one of Oscar Oscar’s many hair gurus, Jacky Chan, and the babelicious babe smiling in the background is Shizuka.  Go say hi and tell ’em I sent ya 😉

ghd Curls :  Still talking about hair, we were also shown how to curl hair using ghd straighteners.  Amy did my hair and we love camwhoring.

Illamasqua lipstick, Illamasqua purple nail polish, Illamasqua palette

Illamasqua Love :  These beauties arrived on my desk a few weeks ago and *swoon* – don’t they look amazing?  However, I am currently hating my eyes because my eyelash extensions are looking not-that-hot anymore so I am waiting till they all fall out before testing the Illamasqua Neutral Palette.  And the pinky nail on my swatching hand decided to commit suicide last night so will have to swatch later.  As for the lippies, yes, I found time to remove my ‘tache this morning so will be testing them out soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Kate Middleton’s Teal Dress :  My jaw dropped when I saw Kate wearing this gorgeous Jenny Packham dress.  It is stunning.  Absolutely stunning.  And look, she has braids too!  I think I have Braid Fever!!!!

Me :  And just because I can, here is another photo of me; unedited might I add 😛  I have been using plenty of wonderful skincare products lately so I will share about them later.  Thanks to all those who have been supportive of my beauty blog and mucho apologies for being absent these days.  I promise I will try and get on track ASAP.

And do let me know what you think of Beauty Bites.  Is it something you like or do you prefer my old tried and tested format of beauty product reviews?

I Lost My Illamasqua Virginity And It Wasn’t A Faux Pas!

A while ago, I attended the launch of Illamasqua’s Theatre Of The Nameless collection.  During the event, we were told that the nail polish collection were inspired by the Berlin Boot Girls in the 1920’s era.  Their boots were colour-coded according to their “specialty”…if you know what I mean *wink wink* – and the great thing is that the nail polish follows the colour and has a waxy rubber finish too.  I had never tried any Illamasqua products before this event, so I was jumping with joy when I left with a goodie bag and it had one of the nail polishes – Illamasqua Faux Pas.

Illamasqua purple nail polish

Illamasqua Faux Pas is a beautiful deep violet and I have received plenty of compliments from wearing this.  Seeing as I’m a nail polish noob, it took me a couple of tries before I learnt how to apply it without it looking patchy.

The waxy rubber finish is so cool…but I wanted it to be chip-free for days so I used a top coat over it which made it look pretty too.

purple NOTD

For some bizarre reason, capturing the true essence of the purple was really difficult so don’t trust the shade you see here.

If you want to see the entire nail polish collection, let me point you in the direction right here.

To ogle at other products, check out Illamasqua’s website.

And keep your eyes open for the other beauty I got in the goodie bag.
