Project 100 Pan // Empties 1-5

project 100 pan empties

True story…

Him :  Look!  I just cleaned out the bathroom.
Me :  ARGHHHH!!!!!  Did you throw out the empty bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel???!!
Him :  YES!  They’re empty!!!
Me :  ARGHHHHH!!!  NOOOOO!!!  I need them for my Project 100 Pan!
Him :  A what??
Me :  UGHHHHH!!!!  Just leave my stuff alone!!!!!!
Him :  But it was getting mouldy!!!
Me :  Don’t throw out any of my stuff again!  *gives Hubby the stink eye for ruining my Project 100 Pan and stomps off*
Him :  *shakes his head in disbelief at his looney beauty blogger wife*

Anyway, as you may have all gathered, I did a Project 100 Pan last year and I may have cheated and bought products before I finished my project, but I also did well over my 100 empties.

I didn’t manage to keep all my empty and used bottles/jars/tubes – thanks to my housecleaning clutter-phobic other half – but I saved most of them to document my journey.  So here’s the first instalment showcasing Empties 1-5…

Review : Lancome DreamTone Ultimate Dark Spot Corrector

lancome dreamtone serum, lancome dreamtone ultimate dark spot corrector, lancome serum

Lancome DreamTone Dark Spot Corrector : Allow me to start off with a disclaimer.  I am a marketer’s wet dream.  Show me any beauty product beautifully packaged in pink and I’ll throw myself all over it like the girls when they met The Bachelor (oops, did I just reveal my new reality TV obsession?!).  This Lancome bottle is not only pink, but it is one up with ombre pink!!!

Beauty Bites Featuring Michelle Phan, Mary Kay & Spiderman

Welcome to another edition of Beauty Bites where I show you all bits ‘n’ bobs of my beauty-filled life 🙂

Michelle Phan, Michelle Phan in Melbourne Australia, Michelle Phan for Lancome

Michelle Phan in Melbourne :  I spent this Friday afternoon with THE Michelle Phan of YouTube beauty guru fame.  She was in Melbourne to do a Lancôme Makeup Masterclass event, but a bunch of Melbourne beauty bloggers and I got to meet her beforehand to chat about blogging.  I will admit that I had a major Phan-girl moment.  Anyway, I recorded some video footage so will probably post it up later on my YouTube channel (subscribe please!) and for more photos of her, I will be adding it to The Best Beauty Blog Facebook page later so keep your eyes peeled for that.  (Update : here’s the FB link)

High Tea with Mary Kay :  A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting the Melbourne representatives of the beauty brand, Mary Kay to learn about their new Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skin Care range.  I also enjoyed my first high tea experience!!!  It was fantastic except for the cheese-filled quiches.  Did I tell you I am a cheese-phobic?  But I love whipped cream though (with scones and jam), even though I am lactose intolerant.

OPI Spiderman
OPI The Amazing Spiderman Collection :  You guys know how much I love OPI, right?  Well, this mini collection is my new splurge…but my stupid nails keep breaking so I haven’t been able to swatch any nail polishes!  Argh!!!!!  Anyway, you can buy this at David Jones for $25.  I think David Jones is my current favourite shop…but I do more browsing than purchasing!

For Him :  I have gathered a reasonable amount of male beauty products from purchases, PR samples and goody bag gifts.  Yup, it is time to snare down my Husband and make him do some male beauty blogging.  He has done a few reviews before – have you read them?  This hair  review is his most popular post, thus far.

Anyway, I’m off to add the Michelle Phan photos on our Facebook page so if you wanna chat, see ya there!  I sound like a boring old fart, but hat’s how I roll on a Friday night 😛

So Much Love For Lancome Vernis In Love : 105M Corail In Love

I am currently wearing and loving a beautiful nail polish from Lancome’s new nail polish collection, Vernis In Love, in 105M Corail In Love.  I was at the Lancome Rouge In Love launch a few weeks ago and I found this beauty and a lipstick in the goody bag.

105M Corail In Love is a coral peach shade which is classy for any occasion.  It’s my first time trying a Lancome nail polish and I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to paint my nails with the wider-than-expected brush.  However, it took me 3 coats to achieve full opacity so it’s not a one-coat wonder.

It’s been 3 days now and even with no top coat, the wear on the tip of my nails has been so minimal!!  Super impressed with Lancome Vernis In Love’s chip-free and streak-free formula!

And just because I can, here’s another close-up of Lancome Vernis In Love Corail In Love. Ahhh, so pretty!!!

Lancome Vernis In Love comes in 22 shades and are $29 at your nearest Lancome counter.  Go check them out because you won’t be disappointed!

What’s on your nails this weekend?

Wedding Bells Outfit Of The Day & Make-Up

Last weekend, my friends J and J got married.  Mrs J looked stunning.  I had a fantastic time and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had used our personalised wedding vows for their vows!  Word for word!!  I had tissues ready but I didn’t cry.  And the reception food was good and I got tipsy after drinking a glass of white wine!

Prior to the wedding, Mrs J had asked me for some beauty advice and my best tip was to get flawless skin – which is not an easy feat!!  For my wedding, I prepped my skin 7 days before the wedding with Babor Express Relief Fluid – and my skin was glowing.  I also recommended Bioeffect EGF Serum and Alpha-H products leading up to the wedding…  Turns out Mrs J’s skin broke out from using Bioeffect…and she ordered a stack of Alpha-H but never got round to using it – but Babor saved the day!!  (I felt awful that Mrs J’s skin broke out from using Bioeffect…but my skin loves it!  I started using it again 4 days before the wedding on Saturday and sure enough, my skin plumped out and had that lovely glow…and in fact, I’m still using it this week because I can’t get enough of it.)

OOTD : Outfit Of The Day

My Husband and I had a last minute panic attack on Friday night.  Both of us have put on a lot of weight since getting married last year so he couldn’t fit into his suit and threatened to wear jeans!  But in the end, he found a semi-formal pair of trousers (or pants, like the Aussies call them) and a shirt.  I thought he looked like a bus driver!

For my outfit, I wore a red one-shouldered dress from Review.  I bought it last year when I was much skinnier…thank God I managed to squeeze into it.  I had to suck my belly in the whole day!!!  And I wore my nude patent peeptoes from Tony Bianco.

FOTD : Face Of The Day

For my hair and make-up, I used a LOT of products :

Hair
Washed with muk products* the night before.  Created volume with VS Sassoon Big Hair Root Boost* and straightened with ghd’s and smoothed tips with Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil*.

Face

Eyes

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion Greed* – Primes oily eyelids and adds that extra shimmer under eyeshadows
  • FACE OF AUSTRALIA Colour Max Eyeshadow Palette Gold Mine* – Used matte brown shade for brows.
  • Mirenesse Pearl Crush Creaseless Shadows in Conch Pearls* – A subtle gunmetal grey smokey eye
  • Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner – My first time using this and I was so disappointed because the 0.1mm tip is too fine and hard to control!  But I will learn to master it!
  • Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara* – Rose-scented mascara which lengthens.  Love! (Full review)
  • Note : I forgot to conceal my dark circles under eyes!  FAIL!

Lips

  • Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip-Fix Cream – Been using this as a lip primer…but undecided about how I feel about it.  I purchased it at a fab price and free shipping from here but it took 4 weeks to deliver though…)
  • Savvy by DB Lip Liner Poppy – I ALWAYS line my lips and shade it in if I wear red lippy.  ALWAYS!
  • CoverGirl TruShine Lipstick in 500 Cranberry – One of my favourite reds…but it’s discontinued!!  WHY?!!
  • Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss in Eric* – LOVE!  (Full review and swatch)

(Products marked with * were not purchased by me.  I either got sent it for editorial consideration or I got it in a goody bag.)

This blog post is dedicated to the newlyweds and I wish them a loving life-long marriage full of joy, laughter, love and babies!

What did you wear to the last wedding you attended?
