14 Beauty Products To Help You Rock Radiant Orchid

radiant orchid beauty products

Radiant Orchid is the Pantone Colour of 2014 – I love it!  It’s bright, happy and eye-catching.  Not only can you wear this purple hue as clothing, shoes and accessories, you can add pops of colour in your beauty routine too.  However, you probably should not wear head to toe in Radiant Orchid – unless you want to look like Violet Beauregarde from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 😛  Each to their own!

To get the deets on 14 beauty products which will help you rock Radiant Orchid, read all about it on my guest post at Breakfast With Audrey.

Who else is loving the colour?

Lime Crime Alchemy Palette Swatches

Lime Crime Alchemy

I finally got round to swatching the Lime Crime Alchemy Palette that I bought a few weeks ago as part of the Alchemy Collection.  It’s seriously so pretty that I had to force myself to swatch this.  It went something along the lines of “Ling, you better swatch this NOW!  Otherwise you cannot eat chips for the rest of 2012!”  Nothing and I mean NOTHING comes between me and chips, so enjoy the swatches of the Lime Crime Alchemy Palette whilst I go and munch some chips now!

Initial Impressions : Lime Crime Alchemy Collection

I got unicorn mail!!!  I was so excited when I saw the Lime Crime purple box in my mailbox this afternoon.  I snapped some quick pics to show you all the beautiful Lime Crime Alchemy Collection I ordered.  I am super impressed with the Lime Crime packaging from the cardboard box to the contents as it’s funky and bright and it made me feel all happy and warm and fuzzy inside!  Yes, product packaging does that to me!!!

Okay I’m going to shut up now and let you feast your eyes upon the Lime Crime Alchemy Collection

Colour Blocking Make-Up Look

the best beauty blog, FOTD, make-up

Following on from the Cute Colour Block nails from Monday, today I give you colour blocking make-up which is a recent trend and I love it!  Loud, bold colours are right up my street.  And the best thing is that I can just slap on the one colour on the lid and another on the lower lash line.  No need for blending with base shades, accent colours and whatnot.

Colourful Opulent Eyes Make-Up Tutorial

Last week, I had lunch with Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous and Lilpil from Things I Love.  They are so lovely and generous to a baby beauty blogger like me – Tine gave me tons of haircare products and Lipil passed me some FACE OF AUSTRALIA goodies; whereas I gave them a MUA lippy each.  Anyway, amongst the goodies, there was an eyeshadow palette – FACE OF AUSTRALIA Opulent Eyes Sapphire Desire.  Look how gorgeous the colours are.

Anyway, the other day, I spontaneously decided to film a make-up tutorial called Colourful Opulent Eyes (hmmm, I wonder how I came up with that name??).  Here is a photo of the FOTD.

FOA Opulent eyes

And before you watch the video, I want to say a few things about it :-

  • My favourite YouTube make-up videos are made by Michelle Phan and Bubzbeauty.  They follow a similar style which is step-by-step tutorial with background music and voiceovers.  However, the professional make-up artist Lisa Eldridge has the best tips and advice for make-up application.  Seeing as I am not a professional make-up artist and I am not very articulate, my video is in a similar vein to Michelle Phan and Bubzbeauty.
  • The picture quality is poor because I recorded this on my Hubby’s MacBook’s webcam.  It is my first time editing a video using iMovie – and I didn’t read the manual – and I have never owned a Mac so the whole operating system is so different to Windows.
  • Thus, please forgive me if you find my make-up sub-standard and the editing and the quality of the video poor.  I am quite happy with it considering I mostly did it for fun.  It wasn’t fun after 12 hours of editing though…LOL

If you watched till the end, thank you for your support.  Please do let me know what you think of my video.  I welcome constructive criticism because it helps me improve.  And yes, can you hear my Scottish accent??  LOL

Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper

Eye primers are essential for long-lasting eye makeup especially for those with oily lids, i.e. yours truly.  I used to strut around with what-I-thought-was-sexy eye makeup…only to look at a mirror to discover creased eyeshadow all over my oily lids – FAIL!!!  Anyway, I want to thank the person who invented eye primer and also I want to thank Lime Crime for sending me their eye primer – Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper – for review on The Best Beauty Blog.

Lime Crime, eyeshadow primer, candy eye eyeshadow helper

Product Description

No other primers work for you? Meet your new BFF: Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper! Formulated to withstand extreme heat, moisture and even the oiliest of eyelids, this primer is guaranteed to keep your eyeshadow on! In fact, it’s so potent our lab says you will need waterproof remover just to get it off.

My Opinions

First of all, the packaging is oh-so-pretty and  I am a sucker for the pretty colour!!  In fact, the colour reminds me of the Tiffany’s turquoise blue box.  However, I must say that I am not a big fan of dipping my finger into jars, especially when I have long nails.  But that’s what cotton buds are made for!

This Lime Crime eye primer has a thick texture which spreads a bit like smooth peanut butter, but blends well.  It leaves a somewhat tacky residue which probably helps keep eyeshadow on.  However, when applying, please be careful to avoid touching your lashes.  I did this by accident and I felt like I had glued my eyelashes to each other.

I am extremely impressed with the long-lasting power of my eye makeup on top of this base.  12 hours and still creaseless!!  I have used this with highly pigmented eyeshadows and I find that it helps intensify the colours.

To remove this primer, it takes a little bit more soaking time with my current favourite eye make-up remover.

The net weight is 7g (which includes the jar) so even though it may not be a lot of product for value of money, I have discovered that with Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper, a little goes a long, long way.
