Review : Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Back in the days, amongst my circle of girlfriends, I was known as The Mascara Whore!

I was faithful to none.  I liked clear mascaras, curling mascaras, blackest of black mascaras, lengthening mascaras and some days, I would layer my lashes with 3 different mascaras.

Fast forward a few years and lucky old me ends up in Melbourne.

Melbourne – where the air is so dry that it dries out my eyes and my contact lens wearing day-to-night days are officially over.  And I have to adorn thick geeky glasses again.  And I slowly but surely, forget about mascaras and develop a love for lipsticks…

However, I recently had an eye-opening (pun intended – har-de-har!) experience with Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes.

Review : Winging It with Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner in Australia, Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Push-Up Liner

If you’re a cosmetics chaser, you will have read on many beauty blogs about the soon-to-be-released Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner.  I was a lucky duck (quack, quack) and got my hands on one of these babies a few weeks ago and I’ve given it a good trial run.

For the first time ever, out of all the Benefit cosmetics I have tried – Fake Up (HG undereye concealer), POREfessionalDr Feelgood, Ultra Plush Lip Gloss, They’re Real Mascara (my HG!), etc – this is the first one I didn’t fall in love with straight away!!  My verdict of this highly-raved gel eyeliner pen is that I like it, but I don’t love it.

Let me tell you why…

Review of Natio Lash Definition Mascara

Natio Lash Definition Mascara

Hi Best Beauties, I’m off to Canberra today for the long Easter weekend.  I’m hoping to have lots of fun exploring this city…  I know lots of people were like “Um, Canberra?  Uh, WHY??!!”  And I say, “Why not?  We haven’t been before and I want to learn more about Australia now that I am a permanent resident here!”  🙂  Anyway, I have drafted a few quickie posts over the weekend so have fun reading them 🙂  More importantly, follow me on Twitter or Instagram to get up-to-date #CanberraGoss

Anyway, onto today’s post…

Many, many, many moons ago, I was OBSESSED with mascaras….until I realised that mascaras can only do so much for my short stubby Asian lashes!  A few months ago, Natio kindly sent me a care package and one of the goodies was Natio Lash Definition Mascara.  I’ve been using it on and off for a while now so I thought it was time to give it a review…

Last Friday, I told you about the 10 make-up products I was lusting after and one of them was Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes – the mascara everyone is talking about after it was revealed that Kim Kardashian used this on her wedding day (although I am sure she had added oomph with faux lashes)!  Anyway, I was delighted to be sent one of these Lancôme babies for review and it has elevated into my current favourite mascara.  I looked at the sleek black packaging admiringly for days before I could bare to open it.  As every mascara-wearing gal should know, once opened, mascara has a short shelf-life.

Clinique High Impact Mascara

Yesterday, when I was at Mecca Maxima, I asked the Clinique ladies when the Clinique Bottom Lash mascara would be launched in Australia – but they had no idea!  Boohoo!  Please come here soon.  Anyway, here is my review of Clinique High Impact Mascara.

Clinique, Clinique mascara, high impact optimal

Product Description

New richly pigmented shade gives eyes instant brightening power-it’s clinically proven. Kicks up the volume and length of each and every lash for a look that’s lusher, plusher, bolder. Pure, deep colour only adds to the impact. Wear it once and you’ll feel naked without it. Ophthalmologist Tested.

Product Testing

My almost non-existent lashes need desperately need high impact, so does Clinique High Impact Mascara perform well after 3 coats of mascara?

Clinique mascara, high impact mascara

  • Lashes look darker and thicker.
  • Lashes are not clumpy and well separated.
  • Lashes appear to be evenly coated.
  • Lashes are not lengthened.

I am disappointed with the results.  Clinique High Impact Mascara promised a high impact – but even after 3 coats of mascara, there is no OOMPH anywhere.  And as well know, Clinique isn’t exactly a drugstore product, i.e. expensive!  Pah!  Clinique High Impact Mascara, The Best Beauty Blog awards you 4 out of 10!

L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes

Mascara is my most favourite make-up product.  I have tried lots of brands and I think different mascara works on different lashes.  Today, I am going to review the mascara I am currently using which is L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes.

L'Oreal Paris, mascara, double extension

Product Description

L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes is a lengthening mascara with a 2-step process.  The first step is a nourishing base coat which contains ceramide R and panthenol-D to protect and strengthen lashes.  The second step creates lengthening tubes around each lash to make lashes appear up to 80% longer.

1. Mascara free – uncurled and then curled lashes.  What lashes?  EXACTLY!!  I freakin’ love eyelash curlers!

No mascara, uncurled & curled lashes

2. After applying the first step – white base coat (Note : I skip this step out for my lower lashes)

mascara base coat, L'Oreal Paris, 2-step process

3. Wait for 1 minute and then apply the second step – black lengthening tubes – to upper and lower lashes

What I like about L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes

As you can see in the photos, this mascara really helps to lengthen and thicken my short stubby lashes.  I also like it because I am able to use this mascara on my lower lashes without worrying that it will run because let me tell you, this mascara has stubborn staying power – which is also part of its downfall…

What I dislike about L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes

bad qualities

It can be summed up from the photo.  Basically, it is a bugger to remove.  You have to wait AT LEAST 30 seconds!  This is a long time when you’ve had a long ass day and all you want to do is go to bed!!!  And also, the packaging is poor because there are cracks forming already – and I have barely used it.

L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes does a good job of lengthening my lashes at an affordable price for a drugstore brand.
