I have a moo-tastic treat for you all today! Inspired by Elisa’s Cow Print Nail Art Tutorial blog post and whilst wearing my cow pyjamas, I decided to try my first attempt at nail art and look how cute it turned out!! Everybody say, “Moo Moo!” with me. It was so easy to do. I didn’t have plain black nail polish, so I used a black one with a shimmer – which makes my cow extra special!! Onto the tutorial…
Ombré hair which features dark to light colour is extremely trendy at the moment. Yours truly is not as trendy in the hair department, but I played around with some nail colours and came up with my takes on ombré nails – pink, blue and purple.
Pink Ombré Nails
Featuring Bourjois So Laque! Rose Lounge (yes, the one worn by Kate Middleton on her wedding day – which I wore on MY wedding day which was way before hers so I am indeed a trend-setter LOL), FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Nail Enamel Cotton Candy*, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Nail Enamel Beauty Queen, Sally Hansen HD Digital and CoverGirl Continuous Color Midnight Mauve.
Pink ombré nails are right up my street!!! Massive love for this! But I am biased because pink is my favourite colour.
Blue Ombré Nails
Featuring Nicole by OPI Diva Into The Pool*, Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish Azure, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Nail Enamel Ocean Villa*, China Glaze First Mate* and MUA Shade 1.
Ooooh, blue ombré nails turned out really well. Sounds silly but it reminds me of the sea and crashing waves. See, told you it was silly!!
Purple Ombré Nails
Featuring Primark Nail Polish Lilac, Mode Cosmetics Midsummer Dream, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Molten Metallics Amethyst*, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Private Jet* and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Pat On The Black.
My purple ombré nails need a bit of tweaking methinks. Not too happy with the poor quality lilac polish I own. Reminds me of Autumn for some reason.
Which one is your favourite ombré nails – pink, blue or purple?

I have immersed myself into the beauty blogging world for a few months now and it’s interesting to realise that beauty bloggers have coined terms such as “holy grail” (describing a must-have product) and “MLBB” (my lips but better to describe a lip product). Today I am going to introduce the word “lemming” into The Best Beauty Blog.
From the Urban Dictionary :
A lemming refers to a purchase/wished-for-item which results from reading an enthusiastic post about a new fabulous product. Overcome by compulsion, readers follow like lemmings diving off a cliff.
I am not exactly sure how to use this term, so please excuse me if I fail badly. I mean, is it “lemming for” or “lemming after” or “lemming on” or is “lemming” a noun?? I digress…
I am lemming Chanel Mimosa. I love the colour yellow – hence my yellow VW Polo car (which is sitting unloved in my parents house…in Scotland!) – but I don’t really suit the colour yellow because I have a yellow-y skintone.
Anyway, I have 2 yellow nail polishes in my collection – Nicole by OPI Yellow It’s Me and FACE OF AUSTRALIA Luxe Lemon Sorbet – (both yellow nail polishes were provided by PRs). Don’t they look simply fabulous in their bottles!
But I don’t even look good with yellow nail polish…so why am I lemming after Chanel Mimosa?? I want something which clearly will not suit me but I want it just because. Is there a term to describe my condition??
Do you have a lemming for something?

I am a HUGE fan of Nicole by OPI nail lacquers. Whenever I wear their colours, I instantly feel younger, sassier and funkier. Today, I am wearing Nicole by OPI I’ve Got The Power, which is described as “a berry powerful shade of red-pink” on the Nicole by OPI website.
Nicole by OPI I’ve Got The Power is powerful, vibrant, eye-catching and simply gorgeous.
Do you like it? Well, please stay tuned for a Nicole by OPI giveaway which includes I’ve Got The Power, Base Coat Plus and Top Coat Plus. How exciting!
This product was sent to me for review purposes but all opinions are my own.
I’ve been feeling blue recently…no, not blue blue, but the colour blue. I’ve been wearing blue and carrying blue handbags. This is triggering some lyrics in my head, “True blue, baby I love you” by Madonna. Anyway, I just wanted to show you my beautiful blue NOTD (nails of the day) courtesy of Nicole By OPI Diva Into The Pool.
If you haven’t come across Nicole By OPI, it is basically the sister brand to OPI which targets the younger female audience. Well, you know, they say you’re only as old as you feel and I feel young!
It looks really good on my nails – check it out
Diva Into The Pool is a pretty shimmery aqua colour with tiny silver glittery pieces. I was really happy with the quality of the nail polish. Two coats of this achieved a beautiful finish. And it remained chip-free for a few days. I love it!
Do you have any recommendations for other nail polishes I should check out?
To be honest, I had never heard of the nail polish brand Nicole by OPI until last week. Nicole by OPI is the little sister of OPI and was designed to target the younger fashion forward audience. (No wonder I had never heard of it then!) Check out their website.
Like OPI nail lacquers, Nicole by OPI have funky names for their colours, e.g. First Crush Blush and Ink a Dink a Pink. Today I am wearing Nicole by OPI Yellow It’s Me
- The colour is absolutely gorgeous and very apt for summer in Australia
- Really difficult to capture the pinky orangey shimmer in photos
- Unfortunately, to recreate the colour, you need layer upon layer of nail polish which gets a bit tiresome if you’re in a rush to get ready
- I had to do 4 coats before it started looking like the colour on the bottle
- A generous 6.5 out of 10
In conclusion : Nicole by OPI Yellow It’s Me, you look absolutely fabulous, but you’ve let me down by needing so many coats!
Available to buy in Terry White chemists at RRP $14.95AUD
