Rimmel London

Go Matte Or Go Home!

Before I gave birth, I envisaged Maternity Leave to be a time where I would successfully juggle a newborn baby with a lot of free time to do whatever I wanted.  I imagined me being one of those Mums who would get up bright and early, do some yoga, make some fabulous smoothie concoction in a hipster Mason jar (and Instagram it!) and drink it with a stripy straw, followed by Baby Time and when she napped, I would be able to carry on my day and do plenty of blogging and make plenty of clean-eating meals, blah blah blah.  It all seemed so easy…

Reality check – it has been the total opposite!!!  I just have NO free time!!!  Motherhood is hard work and I’m not afraid to say that some days are a struggle because it is so intense and full-on.  It is, by far, the most difficult thing I have ever encountered.  But at the same time, I love it soooo much and I feel immensely blessed.

Anyway, I am rattling on (not an easy feat typing with one hand as the other hand/arm is cuddling the baby) when I am supposed to be introducing you to the Matte beauty stash I have been loving lately…  Yes, I still have a bit of time for makeup.  I refuse to be a frumpy mummy so I am happy being a semi-yummy mummy hehe…

New Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks & my Fambam choose their Favourites

New Rimmel Moisture London Renew Lipsticks

When we went to UK recently, one of the places we REALLY wanted to go to was London.  Yes, I’ve been there multiple times and we spent a few days there for our honeymoon but we wanted to visit again because a) SHOPPING and b) FOOD (and if my London friends and family are reading this, then of course, we wanted to visit you guys too!!! *ahem*)  However, we only spent a few measly hours in London and that was at Heathrow Airport where Baby Bunty vomited in spectacular fashion – attention-seeker or what?!

Speaking of London and attention-seekers, Rimmel London recently released their new Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks in 12 eye-catching colours and lucky old me got my mitts on the sexy pop-up press kit so let’s take a look together…

iSwatch : Rimmel London BB Cream

Rimmel BB Cream, Rimmel BB Cream 9 in 1

I’m rolling out a lot of new tester posts this week with Tried & Tested Trio, Initial Impressions and today I give you – iSwatch.  iSwatch is basically  swatches of beauty products taken with my iPhone – see what I did there?  *winks*  The photos won’t be the best quality and there won’t be in-depth product reviews but it will just be swatches and basic product info.  Today’s iSwatch is the new Rimmel London BB Cream which has just landed in Australian shores.

Beauty Bites Featuring Rimmel London, Oscar Oscar Salon, Illamasqua, Kate Middleton & Braids!

As you may already know, my life has been consumed by my 4-day working week so daily beauty blog posts are a thing of the past.  Hopefully, I can find the right balance soon to summon my inner energetic goddess and learn how to blog and work together like birds of a feather.  Meanwhile, I present to you a new series called Beauty Bites with short and sweet morsels of beauty goodness to tickle your fancy.  (Sorry, I have been reading Fifty Shades of Grey so the vocab has rubbed off on me…rubbed…oo-er! :P)

Rimmel eyeshadows, Rimmel Glam Eyes HD quads

Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD : Yes, they are very pretty to look at with their Union Jack patterns…as for practicality with those tiny triangles and shapes of eyeshadow, well…it’s like using an iPhone to type an 5000-word essay…it gets rather annoying especially if you have clumsy fingers which go everywhere!  (I don’t even know if this metaphor makes sense!  Yup, I have definitely been infected by the Fifty Shade Of Grey author, EL James!!  Read 50shadeofsuck.tumblr.com and you’ll get what I mean!)

Katniss braid

Katniss Braid : I read The Hunger Games trilogy and I got inspired to braid my hair because apparently Katniss wears a braid.  I was very much Team Peeta…until I watched the movie and realised that the Peeta actor has funny teeth so I was verging on Team Gale…but then I realised that in real life, he shacks up with Miley Cyrus… and need I say more?

Fishtail Braid :  Speaking of braids, the MBBE (Melbourne beauty bloggers) got shown how to do all types of braids at an Oscar Oscar Salon event in their Chadstone salon.  Hair belongs to Tina (who is leaving for Taiwan soon – noooo!!!), hands belong to one of Oscar Oscar’s many hair gurus, Jacky Chan, and the babelicious babe smiling in the background is Shizuka.  Go say hi and tell ’em I sent ya 😉

ghd Curls :  Still talking about hair, we were also shown how to curl hair using ghd straighteners.  Amy did my hair and we love camwhoring.

Illamasqua lipstick, Illamasqua purple nail polish, Illamasqua palette

Illamasqua Love :  These beauties arrived on my desk a few weeks ago and *swoon* – don’t they look amazing?  However, I am currently hating my eyes because my eyelash extensions are looking not-that-hot anymore so I am waiting till they all fall out before testing the Illamasqua Neutral Palette.  And the pinky nail on my swatching hand decided to commit suicide last night so will have to swatch later.  As for the lippies, yes, I found time to remove my ‘tache this morning so will be testing them out soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Kate Middleton’s Teal Dress :  My jaw dropped when I saw Kate wearing this gorgeous Jenny Packham dress.  It is stunning.  Absolutely stunning.  And look, she has braids too!  I think I have Braid Fever!!!!

Me :  And just because I can, here is another photo of me; unedited might I add 😛  I have been using plenty of wonderful skincare products lately so I will share about them later.  Thanks to all those who have been supportive of my beauty blog and mucho apologies for being absent these days.  I promise I will try and get on track ASAP.

And do let me know what you think of Beauty Bites.  Is it something you like or do you prefer my old tried and tested format of beauty product reviews?

I have a new love and it is Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation – quite possibly the best drugstore foundation to ever grace my face.  Here’s how our love story began…

The lovely Rimmel London PR sent me two bottles of Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation in two different shades – 103 True Ivory and 200 Soft Beige.

My heart went boom boom when I traced my fingers round the sexy sleek bottle with “Rimmel London” embossed on the side.  It may be drugstore but that itself screams luxe in my books!

All the ladies who love pump-dispensing-foundations can rejoice together!!  *fist pump* alert – the pun is very much intended!

Anyway, the true love moment was when I applied Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation.  Beautiful.  Magic.  *swoon*  My dull complexion was transformed into a soft, radiant glow.  It truly does make me look more awake!!

It glides and blends beautifully on un-primered skin and irons out my skin imperfections (pores, sun-spots) without highlighting any flakies.  Yet it is not thick and doesn’t clog up my pores.

I am delighted with the shades because on my NC-30 skin, 103 True Ivory is my Winter shade and 200 Soft Beige will be my Summer shade.

With 6 shades to choose from and a price tag under $20 AUD, what are you waiting for?  Get thee to your nearest drugstore or simply, buy online here.

Famous Last Words
I have nothing but sweet love for Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation.

Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish In 198 Azure

I went shopping today in Chadstone  – a massive shopping mall in Melbourne which has amazing shops like Tiffany’s and Chanel.  I am supposed to be on a spending ban but I had selective amnesia!!  Anyway, I shall show you what I bought tomorrow.  Instead, I want to show you my NOTD (nails of the day).  I had tweeted this photo of me drinking a Bubble Cup Kumquat Red Tea with Lychee Jelly (it was too sweet) – and I received a couple replies complimenting and asking me what my nail polish was!  Well, ladies, it is Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in 198 Azure.

I actually bought this Rimmel nail polish yesterday in David Jones for $6AUD.  The pretty blue azure colour caught my eye.  It has a subtle shimmer.  The great thing about this Rimmel nail polish is that it applied like a dream!  Usually, I mess up the nails on my right hand (as I am right-handed) but as you can see in the photo above, I did a pretty good job because of the easy application.  Anyway, I am definitely going to check out the other colours in the Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish range.

Two coats of this baby gave me beautiful blue nails – I also used a base and a top coat from Nicole by OPI and Bourjois, respectively.  The Best Beauty Blog highly recommends Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in 198 Azure.
