Project 100 Pan // Empties 6-10

project 100 pan empties

Do you ever feel like you’re always chasing your tail and there’s not enough hours in the day to do all thing things you need to do?  Sigh.  It is the story of my life.

Anyway, why am I so “woe is me”???  It is Fri-YAY after all!  Have you all got exciting plans ahead for this weekend?

I definitely do and it involves going to see a movie (thanks Nuffnang!) and getting newborn baby snuggles and a whole lot more so I cannot wait.

Okay enough rambly stuff from moi and let’s get on to today’s post which continues on from last week’s Project 100 Pan Empties…

Review : Shu Uemura Art Of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo Gentle Radiance Cleanser

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo, Shu Uemura Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo

Shu Uemura, quite possibly my ultimate all-time favourite beauty brand, were the first to introduce cleansing oils as part of a skincare routine.  Well, did you know they have brought out cleansing oil for hair too?  No, I didn’t know either until a few months ago when I was invited to the opening of Maison Tsumiki, a luxurious hair salon which is one of 4 exclusive Shu Uemura Art of Hair stockists in Victoria.  I got chatting to salon owner Linda Nishimura and she raved about Shu Uemura Art Of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo Gentle Radiance Cleanser and my interest was piqued after that night.  Needless to say, I was super delighted when I got a chance to try the product myself 🙂

Beauty News : Shu Uemura Price Drop in Australia

shu uemura australia, shu uemura products

Haven’t you heard already?  My all-time favourite beauty brand Shu Uemura has recently had a major price drop in Australia – with up to 40% off across half the range!!  Wowee!

As you may remember, I usually stock up on Shu Uemura products when I go to Hong Kong because it works out to be cheaper there.  But now with no plans to head to Asia in the foreseeable future and with the reduced prices, I can just get my Shu Uemura fix in Australia – YAY!

Let’s take a look at the lower prices…

Konnichiwa Mon Shu! Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O Advanced Formula

Konnichiwa!  It means “Hello” in Japanese!

Karl Lagerfeld is one busy man!  Not only is he known for luxe labels, Chanel and Fendi, but amongst his many projects, he also collaborated with high street label H&M a few years ago – I remember browsing through the collection but nothing took my fancy.  Fast forward a few years and BAM!  Karl Lagerfeld has caught my attention once again because he collaborated with possibly my most favourite beauty brand in the world, Shu Uemura.  Pictured above is the Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O Advanced Formula.  Mon Shu Girl is the face of the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura Collection and personally, I think she is CREEPY CUTE!

Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Youthful Radiance Generator – did it reactivate my youth?

shu uemura tsuya, shu uemura tsuya skin, Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Youthful Radiance Generator review

Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Youthful Radiance Generator was a recent addition in the Shu skincare range and I was blessed to receive one for review.  It looked very promising because :-

1.  I love Shu Uemura and it could possibly be my favourite beauty brand in the world and I have yet to find a product I totally dislike.

2.  It is Made in Japan.  (Not being intentionally prejudiced and all to my ancestors, but skincare products “Made in China” don’t really inspire me to slather it on my face.  Don’t look at me like that! 😛 )

3.  It’s expensive at RRP $110AUD for 30ml bottle.  (I know, I know!  Just because it’s expensive, doesn’t mean it’s miraculous…but just indulge me!)

4.  Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin range (there is a UV Base Mousse as well) was formulated with a special molecule (it’s too science-y for this blog so we shall not go there!) to reactivate skin’s youth – and we all know that this 30-something old hag (i.e. ME!) needs it BADLY!

Thus with claims that it would take “7 days to porcelain-fine, petal-soft, translucent glowing skin”, I diligently slathered Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Youthful Radiance Generator all over my face for 4 weeks.  Did my skin love it?  Did it reactivate my youth?  Did it make me look 10 years younger?

Shu Uemura Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation – My Favourite Foundation of All Time!

shu uemura foundation, shu uemura smoothing fluid foundation, shu uemura face architect, best foundation

The title says it all really!  I cannot believe it has taken me nearly 2 years of beauty blogging to finally blog and review my favourite foundation of all time – Shu Uemura Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation in shade 754.  I have used it for YEARS – 5 or 6 or 7??  Who’s counting anyway?  But seriously, I have yet to try a foundation that works miracles like this SU baby does!  The formula trumps every single foundation I have ever reviewed on this blog…thus far!  Here’s the lowdown on it…

Shu Uemura Point Cealer Gives Me Trypophobia!

Shu Uemura Mark Cealer, Shu Uemura concealer

My beloved HG (= Holy Grail) concealer Shu Uemura Mark Cealer was on its last legs, but by the time I got to my favourite Shu Uemura store in Hong Kong, it was all discontinued.  (FYI, I know David Jones in Australia sell Shu Uemura but I like to buy all my SU stuff in Hong Kong because I get my brows done at the same time which is redeemable on 2 SU products and in that particular SU store in Sha Tin, I am a frequent spender every time I go to HK so they load me up with plenty of samples.)  Anyway, I ended up buying the Mark Cealer replacement, Shu Uemura Point Cealer.  And to cut a long review short, I don’t like it!

Shu Uemura Mark Cealer, concealer, sponge tips

First of all, look at the way the concealer from Point Cealer extrudes out of the sponge tip!!  It’s like worms coming out of holes.  *shudder*  I have a phobia of round spherical holes in sponges, cheeses, plant pots and other stuff!!  It’s called trypophobia!  (<== click on that link if you dare but be warned, there’s a lot of holes!!!)  My teeth are clenching as I think about this and my whole body has goosebumps!!!  (BTW, my kids better now grow up liking Spongebob Squarepants otherwise I WILL disown them!)

Anyway it’s not so yukky after the sponge tips gets all dirty and the sponge holes become less noticeable.  However, that’s when it’s party-time for the bacteria!  Sigh!  Can’t win, can I?

Shu Uemura

Pushing all phobias – sponge holes and germs – aside, the texture of Shu Uemura Point Cealer is stickier and a bit thicker than the Mark Cealer – and I find it much harder to blend in.  Sigh.  The concealing properties aren’t that great on my dark circles.

shu uemura swatches

It may be due to the fact of the shade differences in the Point Cealer (left) and the Mark Cealer (right).  I tend to follow the Shu Uemura SA’s advice on shade matches because they seem to know their thang…but maybe this time, they got it wrong??  I mean, how can I be 7YR Medium with Mark Cealer (which is perfect match) but with Point Cealer, they got me 5YR Light…??

Famous Last Words

I have been extremely loyal to Shu Uemura for years.  I love their stuff from their primers to eyelash curlers to cleansing oils.  Shu Uemura Point Cealer is the first rogue product I have encountered.  *sobs*  Why did they have to discontinue my ultimate favourite concealer in the world???

P.S.  After I wrote this review, I tried to google up Shu Uemura Point Cealer but I can’t find it on any of the SU websites!!  Maybe it has been discontinued already…??!!!  What the…??

Has a similar thing happened to you?  Did you discover a miracle Holy Grail product; only to discover that the brand have discontinued sales?  The replacement products are just never that good.  Anyway, I am on the lookout for a new HG concealer so any recommendations are greatly welcomed.  Thanks.  And out of curiosity, what is your biggest weirdest phobia?
