Hi peeps! I’m still pregnant but I have been offline for a couple of days due to the arrival of my Momma from UK and the breakdown of internet at home. I had a couple of false labour contractions (Braxton Hicks) and they were bloody agony so I’m definitely going to take all the drugs when it is time. Anyway, due to lack of preparation even though I said I would blog like a maniac, I thought I would blog about a Smokey Brown Eye Tutorial I did for one of my Clinique It Girl posts recently.
Smokey brown eyes are now my usual eye look these days. It took me a while to get into neutral eyeshadow but Urban Decay Naked 2 did it for me
<< Off tangent, but do you like the new Urban Decay Naked 3? To be honest, I’m a little bit over it, but I do like the rose gold swatches but doubt I’ll be splashing out on it… >>
Do you remember me telling you that I attended the Benefit Fake Up event a few weeks ago? Well, I was blessed with one of these babies in the goody bag. *squee* Like all Benefit cosmetics, Fake Up has adorable packaging and design which cannot be faulted except that this isn’t fingerprint-proof. Anyway, it is different to all the other concealers I have in my stash…
First up, can you believe it’s the only concealer stick I own?!! I am extremely wary of concealer sticks because back in my young days (many, MANY moons ago), the formulas of them were atrocious and they did the adjective “cakey” a lot of justice! But Benefit’s Fake Up Concealer is nowhere near cakey – in fact, it’s the total opposite!!!
Christmas is days away and last night, I came up with this nail art – Cute Reindeer Nails. Okay, admittedly, my reindeer is a bit confused and thinks it’s a puppy!!! LOL. I don’t have any nail art tools so relied on the nail polish brushes itself. Anyway, it was easy peasy so you can just look at the picture and recreate it with no problem.
Okay, so it went something like this :-
1. Base coat, rich red polish and a brown splodge on the middle finger.
2. Pop on the antlers and two small white dots for eyes.
3. Black dots within the white dots.
4. Red splodge for Rudolph the reindeer nose.
5. Glitter-fy the red. Done!!
Products used are :- Sally Hansen Insta-Grip Fast Dry Base Coat, OPI Wocka Wocka!*, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Commander In Chic (full swatch), Rimmel I Heart Lasting Finish London Clouds, FACE OF AUSTRALIA Molten Metallics Iron Ore (full swatch) and OPI Excuse Moi!*
* The OPI are mini sizes because they are from the OPI Muppettes Mini Nail Collection – aren’t they adorable? Will swatch them at a later date.
Anyway, have fun creating festive nail art. Let me know what you think of my Cute Reindeer Nails.
Last week, I had lunch with Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous and Lilpil from Things I Love. They are so lovely and generous to a baby beauty blogger like me – Tine gave me tons of haircare products and Lipil passed me some FACE OF AUSTRALIA goodies; whereas I gave them a MUA lippy each. Anyway, amongst the goodies, there was an eyeshadow palette – FACE OF AUSTRALIA Opulent Eyes Sapphire Desire. Look how gorgeous the colours are.
Anyway, the other day, I spontaneously decided to film a make-up tutorial called Colourful Opulent Eyes (hmmm, I wonder how I came up with that name??). Here is a photo of the FOTD.
And before you watch the video, I want to say a few things about it :-
My favourite YouTube make-up videos are made by Michelle Phan and Bubzbeauty. They follow a similar style which is step-by-step tutorial with background music and voiceovers. However, the professional make-up artist Lisa Eldridge has the best tips and advice for make-up application. Seeing as I am not a professional make-up artist and I am not very articulate, my video is in a similar vein to Michelle Phan and Bubzbeauty.
The picture quality is poor because I recorded this on my Hubby’s MacBook’s webcam. It is my first time editing a video using iMovie – and I didn’t read the manual – and I have never owned a Mac so the whole operating system is so different to Windows.
Thus, please forgive me if you find my make-up sub-standard and the editing and the quality of the video poor. I am quite happy with it considering I mostly did it for fun. It wasn’t fun after 12 hours of editing though…LOL
If you watched till the end, thank you for your support. Please do let me know what you think of my video. I welcome constructive criticism because it helps me improve. And yes, can you hear my Scottish accent?? LOL
