The A to Z of Me tag

I have thousands of beauty products waiting to be blogged but alas, I am behind in my blog photography, thanks to a sick baby who has caught the cold bug #foreverwipingdirtybuttsandrunnynoses.  Instead, I thought I’d join in on this fun blog post tag that has been floating around.

#babybunty, funny baby memes, baby meme

A: If you were an ANIMAL, what would you be?

I would be a fluffy unicorn!  Sadly, they didn’t make it onto the ark 😛

B: BOOKS: What’s on your reading list?

The last book I borrowed from the library was a baby sleeping guide. I had a flick through it but instead of putting the baby to sleep, it put ME to sleep! Haha! I chucked it to one side, forgot about it and returned it to the library a week late and got hit with a fine. Gah!

Totally didn’t answer the question, did I? Oops! Even though I used to be a major bookworm, I don’t have much free time these days so I don’t have a reading list.

C: COMPULSIVE about anything?

Yes. I cannot count the number of stairs in any staircase otherwise I get obsessive compulsive about the number of stairs. Weird! I also have a thing about toilets where I have 2-3 layers of tissue around the seat even though I don’t actually touch the seat because I hover. And that’s my own private ensuite! Don’t ask what I do in public toilets because we could be here all day! LOL

D: DREAMS – Do you…dream in color? Remember your dreams? Keep a dream journal?

I dream in colour. I always remember my dreams when I wake up but if I don’t write it down immediately, I will forget. Saying that, I don’t have a dream journal because I just don’t have the luxury of time to do that.

E: EATING – what’s your usual snack?

I am constantly snacking because I am always hungry. Apparently, it’s a side effect of breastfeeding. My current snacks are Salt & Vinegar Pringles and Mars bars. Got to have both to balance savoury and sweet.  Also, I am still loving my homemade scones (recipe here)!

my little fambam

F: A few of your FAVOURITE Things

My little fambam consisting of hubby and our baby girl. My iPhone which I use for everything except its original purpose, ie calling people.  I should say beauty products since I am a beauty blogger, right? 😛

G : GIGGLES! What (or who) makes you laugh? Do you have a good sense of humor?

My baby girl Bunty makes me laugh. She’s just turned 8 months and everything she does is either cute or funny.  E.g. she farts like a trooper!  Yes, I am childish and I love at fart noises!

My friends who really know me will say that I’m funny. Some will say I’m witty funny and some will say I have an extremely dirty slash gross sense of humour. As for everyone else, I’m pretty shy until I am coaxed out of my shell.

H : Major HOT Button

Hypocrites. People up their own asses. Two-faced bitches.  (Okay, I am probably describing myself here 😛  Oh well, does that mean I’m hot?!!)

I : I am…

Hungry. All. The. Time.

K : Also KNOWN As… Aliases? Screen names? A non de plume perhaps?

Xyling. I pronounce it Ex-why-ling. But it’s supposed by Zee-ling. A nickname from a friend in my younger years which is a shortened form of seXY Ling. Now you know 🙂

Even though I studied French at school, I have no idea what “non de plume” means so I shall ignore the question 😛

tea cups

My family.  A good cuppa tea (do you like my small tea cup collection?).  Travelling.  Hoarding.  Feeling happy.

M : How do you feel about MEETING people? Do it all the time? Rarely? Parties or 1-on-1?

Back in Scotland, where I grew up, I am known as a social butterfly because I love hosting parties, going out and having dates all the time even during school nights.

But bizarrely, in Melbourne, I am super shy and socially awkward. I worry that people don’t like me because I am pretty silly and immature for my age.

When my mum came to visit me in Australia, she was super shocked because I am the polar opposite of the Scottish me and she asked me why I had no friends here! I do have friends but I just don’t go out much these days. I think it’s the suburban lifestyle compared to the city party girl I used to be. Maybe??  Or maybe I’m just getting old??

N : What’s the story of your NAME? Were you named after anyone? Do you go by a nickname? Any aliases?

My dad named me. In Chinese characters, it’s kinda cool and it tells a story. But in English, it’s just Ling and it doesn’t mean much. Alias is Xyling as explained before.

O : OBSERVANT – What’s around you right now? What do you see?

It’s pretty dark because it is just after midnight and I am lying in the baby’s room where she is happily snoring in her cot. To my right, lying on the floor, is my husband and he’s playing Candy Crush. We are doing co-sleeping to cot transition sleep training. Just don’t ask!

(This was when I first started writing this blog post…but today, I am lying in bed next to a snoring bubba. And yep, we are back to co-sleeping again!)

(EDIT :  And this is ANOTHER day and I am in my beauty room where there are beauty products everywhere.)

P : Who are the special PEOPLE in your life?

My little fambam, my Mum who lives in Glasgow (where the Commonwealth Games were held) and my sister Y who lives in Hong Kong. They are the people I communicate with on a daily basis.

pork ribs at Burgers & Ribs

Q : Any little QUIRKS about yourself?

Where do I start? I floss obsessively. I don’t like kitchen towels. Looking at food porn makes me happy. The photo of my juicy ribs and crispy chips is making me salivate!!!  Before food porn, I used to roam the food department of Marks & Spencers (British store). I need subtitles when I watch TV.  I don’t like to open presents straight away because I like to savour them.

R : What do you like to do for RECREATION?

I love blogging. But if I’m not doing that, I love to chill out, eat junk food, read, Google random stuff, watch an entire TV season boxset during the weekend and grocery shop at Coles, Aldi or Costco.

S : Do You SING in the Shower? In the car? For your friends?

I sing for my baby. I sing the line from The Lion King song when Simba was born with my own lyrics. “Na Saven Ya, Na Bee Bee Wa Waaaaaah!” and my baby looks at me like I’m mad.

T : What’s at the top of your TO DO list?

To blog this post by today. Hopefully. But I have Mothers Group in an hour and an evening Radiology course to attend followed by dinner with friends. Busy much!

(So I didn’t manage to do that when I wrote that, but I’m finally getting round to it YAY!  Next on my to do list is tackling my never-ending email inbox!  YIKES!)

U : Any UNUSUAL experiences?

Yes. Yesterday, at work (which was over a week ago now), during lunch hour, I closed the door to my surgery and sat down and used my electric breast pump to express milk. I never thought I’d get my boobs out in a dental surgery but I did.

V : VEGAS, Vienna, Venice, Vladivostok… How far have you travelled? What’s your favourite city?

Well, I know I live in Melbourne now but in case you didn’t know my story, just over 5 years ago, I left my hometown Glasgow. I quit everything – job, car, flat, etc – to travel Australasia by myself. I was following my dreams. I had never been to Australia before and didn’t have any family or friends here. From Scotland to Australia, that is pretty much on the opposite ends of the world so that is very far!

As for my favourite city, sorry Melburnians, but it has to be Sydney. That’s where I met my one true love!

X : EXes…

Unfortunately, I do have a few exes… But if it wasn’t for them, I would never have known that I had met The One and married him within 7 months of our initial meeting.  We’ve been married for over 4 years now!

Y : Any secret/deep YEARNINGS?

I’ve always wanted to write a book. I’d also love to work from home now that I have a baby because I don’t want to miss out on those precious moments. And I’d also love to improve on my photography. I would also love to have another baby but there are so many risks involved for us so we will have to see what God says.

Z : ZERO to ZENITH – Where are you in your life? Still growing? On an upward (or downward) curve? Just skating along?

I’m truly blessed. I’ve accomplished a lot in my life. But sometimes I forget that so doing this A to Z tag has been a great reminder. I guess I’m cruising along in life. There are highs and lows but I’m excited to be on this journey called life.

Wow, what a long post!!!  Anyway, if you fancy doing the A to Z on your blog, link back so I can see.  Otherwise, leave your A to Z answers in the comments 🙂
