I go through face cleansers as if I have ten faces instead of one! Maybe I just have a REALLY BIG pancake face?!!! I double cleanse which means that I use a cleansing oil beforehand to remove any residues of make-up and sunscreen and then I use a cleanser. The following are 3 lucky face cleansers which had the pleasure of cleansing my face for the past few months.
(Psst : I have dry sensitive skin so I had to whisper “Please be gentle” to the cleansers before I cracked them open to use. No, seriously, I did! :P)
Pod Liquid Detox
Product Description : An all in one triple enzyme liquid cleanser that exfoliates, cleanses, moisturises, protects and nourishes the face naturally.
Performance : It was love at first cleanse! I just loved everything about Pod Liquid Detox from its sexy chic white pump packaging to its divine formula which left my face feeling soft and nourished. It was my shower facial cleanser and I was so sad when I finished using this.
Prized Ingredients : Papain, Kakadu Plum, Green Tea, Pomegranate, Mango Shea, Sandalwood
Perfect For : Those who are looking for a 3-in-1 cleanser and are against animal testing
Purchase : $60 AUD for 150ml at podpuraceuticals.com (bonus – free delivery worldwide!)
Mary Kay Botanical Effects Cleanse Formula 1
Product Description : Formulated with personalized botanicals for your skin type and contains an antioxidant-rich botanical complex. Leaves skin feeling smooth, hydrated and nourished.
Performance : When I first used this Mary Kay Cleanser For Dry Skin, I had an angry rash on my face, possibly caused by using too many whitening products and exfoliators. Anyway, I used it in conjunction with the rest of the Botanical Effects products – Freshen (toner) and Hydrate (moisturiser) – and hallelujah, let the skin angels sing. The sensitivity rash on my face calmed down after 3-4 days. When one of my girlfriends encountered a similar sensitivity rash, I recommended the Mary Kay Botanical Effects range and she loved it too. I was also sad when I finished using this and the moisturiser. I still have plenty of toner left though 😉
Prized Ingredients : Sea Kelp, Luo Huan Guo (‘longevity fruit’), Milk Thistle
Perfect For : Those suffering a rash and skin needs soothing
Purchase : $35 AUD for 4oz at marykay.com.au
Dr Lewinn’s Reversaderm Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser
Product Description : Cleanses and helps to diminish the signs of photo-ageing and sun damage
Performance : The first thing I noticed about Dr Lewinn’s Reversaderm Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser is the beautiful fruity smell. It is delicious!!! It does have a little tingly effect due to the Glycolic Acid content and I avoid cleaning my delicate eye area with this. I was worried that it would be too harsh for my dry / sensitive skin but it has been absolutely fine and I have even used it with my Clarisonic Mia because of its gentle yet effective exfoliating results. I am hoping for clearer, less pigmented skin when I finish this 100ml bottle. You are supposed to use it daily for the first 2 weeks and then as required, which in my routine means at least 3 times a week.
Prized Ingredients : 12% Glycolic Acid
Perfect For : Those who have unwanted blemishes or hyperpigmentation on skin
Purchase : $34.95 AUD for 100ml at Priceline and other Dr Lewinn’s stockists
The Wee Print
Disclaimer : Both Pod and Mary Kay cleansers were finished to their last drops to enable a fully informed review. As for the Dr Lewinn’s, I have been using it for over 8 weeks. As mentioned, I have dry/sensitive skin and these worked wonderfully on my skin, but everyone’s skin behaves differently so do read plenty of reviews before trying new skincare products.
Disclosure : I was fortunate enough to acquire all 3 awesome face cleansers as part of goody bags and care packages. As always with such products, I was not under any obligation to review them, but I chose to because they have been fabulous at cleansing my face. If you wish to send me a care package, please feel free to contact me.
