nude lippies, nude lips, best nude lipsticks

2015 has been an interesting year.  I’ve started embracing new interests.

For example, I’ve stopped reading celebrity goss mags and I’ve started reading Better Homes & Gardens magazine!  And I love it!  Who am I???  My mother??

And I’ve stopped favouring bold ‘in-yer-face’ lippy colours and I have been embracing nudes!  Who am??  J-Lo??

Anywayyyyzzzz, let me introduce you to this trio of nude lipsticks I have been wearing recently…

Gorgeous nude lipsticks for every skin tone!
Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Royal Orchid

This is a GORGEOUS (yes, CAPS are needed!) pink-toned nude.  It just glides on beautifully and wears so well on my lips without it drying out.  It’s cooler than the usual pinks I go for but I seriously love it.  I’m not sure if you can tell in the photos but it’s well-worn by my pout 🙂  You can see it in action amongst other pinks in this video I filmed a few weeks ago.

Verdict :  A tad expensive at $35 but it’s luxe and luscious so head to your nearest Laura Mercier counter NOW!

Fabulous nude lippies

Essence Longlasting Lipstick in 01 Wearing A Smile

This is a peach-toned nude lippy which is really hard to pull off if you have yellow-toned skin like me.  I can’t wear this lipstick on its own without looking like I’m seriously ill BUT it is awesome as a lipstick primer and make colours on top pop.  For under $5, this range is definitely worth checking out!

Verdict :  Not the best nude colour for Asians like me, but great as a lippy base.  It’s less than $5 – BARGAIN!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Notting Hill Nude

This brown-toned nude is a beauty!  I didn’t even know I could pull off caramel lips until I tried this.  Fantastic creamy formula too!  In fact, I’ve been wearing the above mentioned Essence lippy as a base and applying this on top and it makes a lovely nude lip combo.  This one is under $15 so another budget-friendly lippy!

Verdict :  Get that caramel nude lips look at under $15!  Sweet!

Disclosure :  Thanks to Laura Mercier, Essence and Rimmel for sending these gorgeous lippies for editorial consideration.

  1. Nice! I love that you’re trying things out on your Asian complexion! Makes my guesswork easier!
I love my bold colours – especially looking forward to burgundies and rich reds this winter, but I do think I need a good nude for the times I want to just play up my eyes.

  2. Nude lips? ‘House & Garden’ magazine?? What is happening here? 😉 With my pasty skin and dark red hair, a nude lip is really hard for me to pull off. I end up wandering into a sort of pinkish-brown, like Nude By Nature’s Sassy. I will certainly admit to enjoying the shade range of the Rimmel Moisture Renew though – I love Sloane’s Plum.
I guess I’ll never be a nude lip gal. 🙂

    • Yeah, I don’t know who I am anymore haha! I’ll have to check out Nude By Nature’s Sassy because I am going towards the pinkish-brown lips route too. When I wear nude peachy shades, it looks like I am on my deathbed! HAHA!
