My mum tells me you will never ever please everybody no matter how hard you try so do what you can to make yourself happy. If conforming to other peoples ideas makes you miserable then dont torture yourself. Make yourself beautiful on your terms, confidence will come freely that way too.

My mum never goes to bed wearing makeup, and she never lets me either. She’ll also solve problems by having a shower. She says they always make you feel better and you can think of a way around your problem in the shower.

Jump from shade to shade! Sun is the most damaging thing to your skin and it’s very hard to repair. Stay out of the sun and stay young.

Panic! Mum never taught me makeup… what skills did she give me!? *runs around panicking*

Oh wait. That’s right. She always said to use cleanser and toner, that we need to take care of our skin from young so we don’t end up old and haggard way before our age… if not, the guys will run away and your husband will look elsewhere and have an affair!!!

Use a tinted moisturiser with SPF, it can be a quick concealer and protect your skin as well

My mum is all about pure natural skin. Sunscreen even when it’s not sunny outside and use natural ingredients for weekly face masks. Her favourite mixture is avocado and an egg yolk with a hint of honey. I would always catch her eating the avocado or honey before making the mixture. I guess it’s like licking the bowl clean.. Literally.

My mother always told me ‘if you ever want to know what you look like when you are old.. Look at the mother’. And then she would stare at me and say ‘it’s that what I do and you’ll be fine’. Hahaha

Mums best advice is to moisturise everyday,it worked for my nan , my mum and now me. So I have paased it on to my daughter who has beautiful skin too. Sometimes its the simplest things that work.

Whoops, thought I’d entered when the post went up, but obviously not! You’ve got me well lusting after Bioderma H2O though 🙂
During my teenage years of skincare experimentation mum was in the bathroom with me one night after I’d reacted badly to a mask. I’ll never forget her saying “Just remember to kiss your skin; Keep It Simple Stupid” I took on her advice, stopped drowning my youthful complexion in products and gladly saw my skin shine.
Of course these days, nature is starting to take it’s course so while I’m happy to try new and different products, I’m also careful not to touch anything too full of harmful chemicals and additives.

love bioderma, best beauty tip mummy has shared with me is a pore tightening mask using honey and oat

    A miraculous mother to seven,
Her smooth and flawless skin epitomises heaven!
Mum buys endless packets of oats,
Naturally cleansing from top to toe she promotes!
Her old stockings never go to waste,
Oats inside a stocking and warm water until you have a lathered paste!
Gently removing any make-up or grime,
And it’s an effective technique that you can use ALL the time!
Another secret I’m proud to share,
A natural face mask if you dare!
Mix equal parts of oatmeal, honey (Manuka) and natural yogurt! 10 minutes once a week is all you need!
Improving your skins texture and will successfully complete the pampering deed!
If you are yearning an extra special treat!
Just add “Rose Water” and the sumptuous scent no other product can beat!
This is just “ONE” successful secret but I do have more,
Give it a go because I rate it a 10/10 score!!!!!

It was this very conversation which prompted my admiration for and long-lasting affair with…*drumroll please* – washing my face! Well, to be more precise, makeup remover and basically a skincare routine and basically- the world of beauty!
(Me, having woken up in the middle of the night, screaming blue murder, drenched with sweat after having crashed on my bed after my birthday dinner)
Mum *walks in groggily*: STOP YELL-ing! WHAT HAPPENED?! Did you fall off the bed?
Me: No…i had a really freaky dream Mum! *almost tears up*
Mum: *comes over to sit on my bed and console me* Oh…. Seeing as you’re up… Go wash your face, you’ve smeared all over the silk pillowcase!
Me: (Sees yellow face imprint, red smudges and brown mascara streaks on pillow, somewhat resembling the apocalyptic sky in my dream) ARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! *rushes into bathroom to scrub face off*
I woke up my brother and father that night, it may have been one of my most memorable beauty-related events, mainly because of the endless Mirth my family gets when telling this story at family gatherings…particularly my loving mother ;)Just one of the many insightful conversations I’ve had with my Mum, I can only hope for her soft and radiant (mid-40s, yes, Asian!) skin when I’m her age!
I’d love to give her the gift of Bioderma makeup remover because it truly means something to me , and I’m sure it will for her (as where she works, where looking fresh and clean is a prerequisite!)

My loving mother once taught me,
That pot plants aren’t just eye candy!
    I was Sore and red
From a hot day on the beach bed
Thank goodness for her sliced-up aloe (which soothed my back), how dandy!

Mother Nature has all cures: According to my mum, there’s nothing a swim in the ocean and 40 winks out in the sunshine can’t fix, including a bad mood.

Mum has always told me that skin is like age. Start young because if you don’t take care good care of your skin, it can age quickly and you will look a lot older than you really are! She has also taught me that skincare is like success. There’s no shortcut to it, which basically means: remove your make up properly, cleanse, tone and moisturise!!

This is a tricky one, because my Mum doesn’t have a beauty regime. She never wears makeup and the only skincare product she has ever really used is sorbolene cream.

The one tip she gave me that has truly shaped my beauty philosophy is that it really doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, how you’ve applied your makeup or what colour your hair is, if you act confident in your appearance, you will look wonderful. I have lived my life with this philosophy and I’m comfortable to go out in public with no makeup, beautiful “traditional” makeup, or crazy person makeup ( like teal lipstick and purple eyebrows – I’ve done it!) and I truly feel comfortable each and every time.

Actually, I’m very pleased to have had that particular value instilled in me, so thanks Mum!

Oh and as for the email address – you know who I am 😛

I’m a fan of Bioderma on Facebook (Kate Ryan)- my Mum always encouraged me to protect my skin from the sun, which I have (mostly) diligently done to my skin’s benefit. I always wear a hat when I go outside and have about five different kinds of sunscreen. 😛

My Mum never gave me much beauty advice, in her mid 40’s she is only really starting a beauty routine (at my insistence). My Nan however has always reminded me to wear sunscreen to protect my skin and eat healthly.

I think the best beauty secret my Mum and Nan have given me is that makeup is not needed if you are a beautiful person on the inside.
